Why is the American Flag reversed on some athletic uniforms and U.S military Uniforms?
As i was watching the Colbert Report from iraq i notice that the american flags on the soilders uniforms are backwards, is there a reason for that

- It's so the blue field faces the front.
- The Stars face forward to symbolize America moving forward.
- On the military uniforms it show the flag going into battle...I don't know about the athletic uniforms!
- It is to represent a flag flying in the wind as the soldiers charge into battle. It goes back to the days of the American Revolution and the Civil War when flags were carried by a flag bearer. It symbolizes that the American Army never retreats and that we are always moving forward.
- Maybe the camera angle was reversed. With no frame of reference, you wouldn't be able to tell (basically, mirroring the image along the y-axis). If a flag was originally on the right side (of a uniform, say), stripes facing out to the right, they would be facing out to the left if the image were mirrored and it would look like the flag were backwards. I don't know for sure, the mirrored image would result in this.
