Military Uniform Store

New AF ABU Uniform colors schemes are different, why ?

This may be a dumb question to ask on this, but it's late, and can't ask anyone else at this moment. I just got issued the new AF ABUs and when I went to the military clothing store to try them on, they fit, got my stripes sewn on them, but now that I"m home, I noticed that the pants and shirt are a slightly different shade from each other. Then after researching the uniform online, there's 4 slightly different color schemes. I did not know that when I go them issued, so I'm wondering,,,,I can't be allowed to wear different color schemes, am I ? You'd have to really look to see the difference, but why would they have 4 different colors? And if I"m not allowed to wear 2 different colors, why aren't we being told this when we're trying them on and checking out. Again, I"m only asking now because it's late where I"m at, and I'm going to try bringing them back tomorrow to exchange them. But for now, does anybody know if the AF allows 2 different colors to be worn, I'm guessing no, but like me, I didn't know there was more than one color scheme. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

  1. Ahhhh. Somebody thats got a lot of brass on his collar thought that it was something that the Air Force needed? And nobody below him had the guts to tell him he was full of sh*t?
  2. Your going to run into the same issue that we did with the Army ACU's there are different companies making the uniforms to try to get them into service as quick as possible. Now the shades are going to be slightly different and will even fade differently. It sucks trying to match uniforms up after getting them back from the laundry. Just get them as close as you can and you will be fine.
  3. There is a panel of colors that the authorized manufacturers can use. And, as a result, you will find different color schemes on different ABU's, but they are all in the same color families and are all approved colors. And yes, you can wear mixed matched sets. It is not an issue with the AF, but it can be a personal issue. Hubby is very picky about his and has his sets marked on the inside to keep them matched up. Even the material being used to do the name tapes doesn't always match exactly with the color scheme on your particular set. Hubby has one set that matches perfectly, the other 3.. well they are a different color scheme, but it's no big deal. Not sure why your clothing sales didn't say anything or someone in the store even. Heck, when I went to get hubby's, a guy asked me if he could see the uniforms I had in my arms and he color matched them for me! Relax... it will be fine!
