How does the U.S./Iraqi forces prevent/detect insurgents from wearing a coalition-like uniform? U.S./Iraqi forces are now trying to blocked the Syria and Iran borders. But a lot of insurgents are already inside Iraq and somehow are able to take a disguise as an Iraqi coalition-force. How are they able to get that uniform? Is there a military surplus store in Baghdad? What can our technology do to detect impostors?
Is it true that Target the retail store does not support military efforts (i.e. Marines and toys for tots)? From my understanding Target does not support our local military when it comes time for Toys for Tots or any other drive. They will not allow them to stand outside of the stores in their dress uniforms to accept donations or will they donate any time effort or money. Now hopefully I am wrong but if I am not and I do not see proof of this being a misunderstanding, I say as an American, and a military personnel’s wife we should boycott their company until they truly come around to support our troops. Whom by the way everyone including me is indebted to, because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be able to speak my mind right now.
Why do Target Stores disrespect Military people ? Does anyone know if there is any truth to this story ? Posted: Dec 15, 2006 12:29 AM In lancaster, Ohio where my momma lives, the Target Store there won't let anyone shop there if they are in the military. If you have an ID and they see it they kick you out. My uncle was in his uniform going to buy some things and he walked through the door and they told him he couldn't shop here because they don't support the US Military. :( why do people have to be so rude? our men and women are fighting for these people and they can't even give thema little bit of support. stupid I tell you. I refuse to give them any of my business anymore. its just rude and why should I support them when they won't support my husband.
Military: Has anyone ever encountered...? someone who told you off about the war in Iraq? For instance you were just minding your own business walking around a store or mall wearing your uniform and someone either made a negative comment or conversation towards you? I was at the mall sitting on a bench waiting for my friend. A man in the military in his uniform walked out of the store that was infront of me. There was a group of college kids sitting to the bench to the left of me. One yelled out something negative (I'm not even going to repeat it) the military man turned around walked straight up to the group and said "Could you repeat that?" and the group shut up REAL fast. The guy said again "Could you repeat that?" and they just sat there like idiots. Imagine that, one man and this group of 4 college boys didn't know how to handle it.
Wearing of outdated military insignia? Earlier today I bought a USN peacoat (ca. WWII) from an antique store for a steal of a price. The rating badge is still attached to the sleeve (Pharmacist's Mate 3rd Class, worn previous to 5/31/41), and I thought I should remove it... however, even though I'm well versed in uniform regulations, as well as federal laws applicable to the wearing of military insignia, I've no clue as to whether it would be a violation of said laws and regulations to wear /outdated/ insignia. I'd rather not remove it if I don't have to -- I've attempted to find out whether it is permissible to leave it on, but to no avail. This is entirely new to me, and I want to be sure. So -- is it permissible to wear outdated / antique insignia? Whatever the answer may be, please provide a source if possible. Thanks in advance. As a former Sailor, I still have copies of Navy uniform regs on my computer (and I stay up to date). I have also performed several searches within U.S. Code, but I have yet to find anything specifically related to outdated insignia -- unless my searches themselves are flawed somehow. Of course, current Navy uniform regs indicate that a rating badge cannot be worn on the peacoat 1) While in civilian clothes, 2) Upon separation/discharge. But those regulations are in reference to current rating badges/insignia. I may have answered my own question, but I have yet to find anything specific to vintage/outdated insignia within U.S. Laws/Code. Here's the applicable statute: Here is the applicable federal statute: Sec. 771. - Unauthorized wearing prohibited Except as otherwise provided by law, no person except a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps, as the case may be, may wear - (1) the uniform, or a distinctive part of the uniform, of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps; or (2) a uniform any part of which is similar to a distinctive part of the uniform of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps --The scope of the law is pretty broad. I suppose it depends on whether "vintage" patches/insignia are still considered uniform items. Although, number 2 (above) indicates that it's adviseable that I take the patch off. Drat. If anyone runs into something more specific, please let me know. Thanks. Thanks everyone. @ Politically Wrong: Yes, I was aware of that -- but your last sentence is what I was looking for. I began searching various re-enacting websites, and if the uniform item is no longer serviceable, obsolete, or otherwise decommissioned, it is evidently legal to wear such items. I'll still look for something definite within the law, but I'm satisfied for now.
Why do feminists want to ban Playboy and Penthouse for our men in uniform? Isn't this feminism run amok? http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/04/military_pornography_stores_042208w/ True, Jo. Too often, feminists and rightwingers seem to share a love for limiting free speech. Rebel F, I was responding to Jo. She said she was in favor of this. Baba, you know as well as I do that Andrea Dworkin and other feminists wanted to ban all porn. That's no secret.

Why are Republicans trying to take soft p0rn away from our troops? http://www.newsweek.com/id/134035 You know something's wrong when the word areola appears in a bill circulating on Capitol Hill. Republican Congressman Paul Broun, the representative from Georgia's 10th District, wants to stop the sale of Playboy and Penthouse at military bases around the world, invoking an argument that at the very least is scientifically questionable: that consuming even soft pornography makes men more prone to committing sex crimes. A doctor by profession, Broun says he began drafting the bill after a constituent described her distress at having watched, along with her young children, an officer buy a nudie magazine at a military exchange store. "The military teaches to respect officers, and her little kids were seeing this military officer … there in uniform, buying pornography at the PX," Broun told NEWSWEEK. Congress already has a law from 1996 banning the sale of "sexually explicit" material on military bases. But deciding what qualifies as sexually explicit was left to a Department of Defense review board, which gathers periodically to examine a range of magazines and DVDs. In its review two years ago the board banned such titles as Bootylicious and Juggs but decided that Penthouse has enough nonsexual content to be acceptable (Playboy had already been allowed). Lt. Col. Les Melnyk, a Pentagon spokesman, said the board members are kept anonymous in order not to expose them to outside pressure but have included active, reserve and retired members of the military, military spouses, members of dual-military couples and DoD civilians. "The board is very disciplined in adhering to the definitions described in the Instruction [from Congress], and has access to legal counsel to assist members in interpreting the law and the Instruction," Melnyk said in an e-mail. .... His district includes Athens/UGA.
What is your view of a Muslim? Do you see the American Muslim Doctor? Do you see the nice American Muslim family that owns the local convienent store? Do you see the American Muslim college prophessor? When I think of Muslim I see the people in 14 year old girl in Afghanistan that just got given over to marry a 55 year old man for a heard of goats. When I think of Muslim I think of thousands and thousands of Afghanistan and Pakistan Muslims, all dressed in their white robes getting off the jumbo jets from Mecca at the US Army base in Afghanistan, trying earn their salvation from allah. When I think of Muslim I think of the Iraqi soldiers that died every day by car bombers while they were guarding the gates to the Baghdad Army base. When I think of Muslim I think of my good Iraqi Army friends that had to change close before they left the base to travel to go home to their family because if they got cought wearing a military uniform the terrorist would kill them....What do you think of when you think of Muslim?
Why Saudi Treats black people like this? This is the same thing happened (exactly the same) here infront of ATCO bldg.,Dammam. to the guy name Edgar “Egay” Castro , Salesman of east & west est. My question are: What shall we going to do, in time of trouble like this? Are we still safe ,to stay in this country ? Why this thing is happening now a days? Do we have a protection to the government? ________________________________________ Subject: Behind the Enmy Line . . be cautious . .. “ BEHIND ENEMY LINES ” Dear fellow staff, We would like to inform everyone and your family as well, to be cautious in walking along isolated places (where there are no people around). You/we might be the next prey of this unwanted someone, should I say, criminals hanging around, looking for possible victim/s. One of our fellow employee “ MOY JAMIRI ” was the latest victim!!! Here’s the story: Jamiri and some Industrial staff were working overtime yesterday, Friday March 7, 2008 (take note just yesterday!). At around 12:45 pm, after prayer time. It was yet another seem to be, an ordinary working day, but since it’s friday we only have 4 hours (overtime) work. Unfortunately, Moy’s car was under repair, meaning he doesn’t have car in order to reach home “PEACEFULLY”. He asked me (Jonathan B. if you may) to give him a lift. We drove home between 12:50 to 1:00 pm. I dropped him at around 1:10 pm near IPSA (Int’l. Philippine School in Al-khobar, that is where he lives) According to his recount, since lunchtime is almost over, he made up his mind and decided to buy lunch from a nearby restaurant. While on his way (please take note again, that the place is “soundly populated”, but since it’s Friday, the only thing you can see around are cars and buildings who were likewise taking their nap in the middle of the day. Suddenly, out from nowhere, a “private” car with a police horn, stopped from beside jamiri showing out his (the antagonist) ID card that looked like a police ID!. Jamiri being a humble person, knowing that the guy is just like an usual folk asking information about the place, -turned out to be the “UNWANTED SOMEONE” trying his luck of victimizing Jamiri!. The ENEMY is about 5’-7” in height, robust, fair complexion, wearing a military uniform (take note again! He’s not wearing a police uniform! But an army uniform, just like the one’s that our “gate guards” are wearing). When jamiri noticed that the man was shouting and asking him to give up his Iqama!!! Jamiri, as instinct dictates, smelled something odd, he refused to follow, although he already felt nervous from the start, he defiantly said, “why should I give you my Iqama”, it was then that the man, obviously determined of pursuing his dreadful purpose, went out of his car and presto! He catched jamiri’s arm holding it firmly pressuring him and forcibly pushing him inside the man’s car!!! Since Moy is as strong as an elderly camel, he was able to get off and RUN FOR HIS LIFE!!! went to the nearby store!!! Drawing out his cellphone and pretending by calling the police!! . . . the guy never followed!!. .. . The rest is history!!!. . if you give in, who knows what happens next!!!! . . .. *** Be cautious everyone! Give extra careful when walking alone especially on places where cat’s are the only breathing animal around!!! You won’t know you are “behind enemy lines” . . *** Army uniformed man?? Pretending to be a police officer?? Showing his Police ID Asking for Iqama?!. . . Think twice!!! I don’t have e-mail add of the rest of our fellow staff, you may share this to them and to your friends as well..

Military men and women, what would you have done? Jail or? In Baton Rouge a few weeks ago, in Radio Shack, an army guy who just got done w/ his training came in and asked for something (forgot what). Well, in the store working there was a black guy working, a middle eastern guy, and a white guy. The army guy got the middle eastern. He simply asked him for a product, the employee said they did not carry it, and the army guy said thank you and turned to leave. When he turned his back the middle eastern guy said something along the lines of "stupid a55hole americans, going over to my country, raping and killing children and women, and think your so bad a55 w/ your uniform". The army guy heard him and some harsh words were exchanged between the two. The cops were called and the ARMY GUY gets arrested for ethnic slandering/assualt (something along those lines). The officers spoke to the employee and came to the conclusion that the army guy either had the option to apologize to the employee and his country or go to jail. He chose jail and now has a court date coming up. What would you have done? fyi: the middle eastern just immigrated to the U.S. I heard this story on the W&J radio show and thought I would share it. If anyone knows more info or if I got some info wrong please let me know. it was funny because a lot of people called in the show asking for specific locations. You do NOT mess with cajun people. Like I said I heard this story on the radio yesterday morning, if some bits are wrong sorry. I am repeating what I heard.
Why do men turn their heads and stare at women on the street even after viewing porn? I know men that make will make a U turn in their car to get another look at a woman jogging down the side walk even though they have a DVD player in their car with porn. We see naked women easily on the PC but yet we stare at the shapes of fully clothed women at the mall or grocery store. I know a guy that offered to pump gas for a lady just to stare at her butt. He is married, and has been for a long time. What is wrong with us? By the way, I have seen women go crazy over guys in Uniforms, like s Sailor, Army, Marine, Cop, UPS. Maybe women are not that different. Any 18 year old knows that the girls love uniformed men, ESPECIALLY military uniforms. Are we all shallow?
Can the military change your discharge after you get out? My brother served 4 years in the USMC. He went to Iraq and got out when he finished his 4 years in 2006 with an Honorable Discharge. He has since joined the anti-war movement. He was photographed wearing anti-war clothing with camos (wasn't even his camos but his buddy's who passed away and his parents gave them to my brother to wear to protests because they believed that what their son would have done if he was to still be alive) nametag ripped off, unit badges and USMC tag still on there. wore the jacket with jeans and an anti-war tshirt underneath, it did not look like a uniform! Someone recognized him from an anti-war protest photo that made tons of newspapers (including the NYT and washington post) and now the USMC is threating to change his discharge to less than honorable just cause he was wearing camos. Can they do that? They sell the same jackets in all army and navy stores and even seen them at the goodwill. Isnt he a civilian now and is able to practice his free speech?
whats the difference between peril harbor and 911?? on dec 7th 1941 japan attacked pearl horbor and the united states banned together. women went to work. men that could not join the military lied about there age some commited sucied. they sacrificed to do what they had to. more people died at the world trade center then men at pearl harbor. poeple that had nothing to do with war and matters of that nature. now today everyone is crying about the war on terrior. im in the military and have seen first hand what war brings and i dont condone it by no means what so ever war is cruel and unforegiving.but why is the world have this attuited of lets just wait and see what they do next time? what is so diffrent of what happend in 1941 and now? we go into a store after work with our uniform on and you say crap to us. whats done is done and i dont think there is any way out. bush and bin ladin should go toe to toe and have it out. bush with some moonshine and that texas temper would win. sorry for the miss spelling's
Is getting fired for being a reservist legal? Long story short, my husband took a side job at a local store. One friday the military told him he needed to report to his command immediately and that drill weekend for him was starting Friday since there was paperwork and a class. He tried to find someone to fill in at the store but nobody could work so he called the manager and explained the situation. She said that he was "screwing her because she had things to do and to just tell them he had a prior obligation". Obviously he couldn't tell his command that he couldn't make it so he explained this to his manager. The next time he went in for work she told him that he was no longer needed and to bring in his uniforms. Is this legal? I thought there was some veterans act saying that his first obligation is to the government and that if he gets called up his job would have to respect that. We have the paperwork and proof that he was indeed at his command. I didn't want to contact a lawyer if she was within her rights. It's not about going back to work for her it's just the fact that maybe a large company should know that their managers fire people based on their military status.
Can I be sent to jail for wearing a military uniform and hosting charity events even though I never served? I bought this army uniform at a surplus store, with medals from vietnam to Iraq war. I just enjoy giving speaches and raising money. The perks are not that bad either, discounts on hotels and stores.
I gave him my email..how lame of me!? This guy comes into my place of work a couple times a month, He always makes eye contact with me and smiles and all the girls say he likes me...So i was off yesterday so i went to my store, i know how lame, anyways, I went there for food milk blah blah anyways he was getting gas! I was like how cool is this...So he comes inside and pays for his stuff, we walk out together, I gave him my Email...WHY! I dont know, This guy is really nice from what i can tell. He even shook my hand and introuduced himself to me a couple months ago. Anyways He asked me if i had a ride home, i was like yea, so he walked me in the rain to my truck, and hugged me! I was just wandering if me giving my email to him the wrong thing. Should i have given my phone number out? I really didnt want to because of my living situation, i live with my parents...Just wanderding if there was a code of how many days a guy responds to these sorts of things. Hes in the military and oh my looks good in uniform. But very nice, What if i misspelled the email! OH geese...I hope i did not screw this one up! he seemed so into me :(

Help me with this dream? I had a disturbing dream last night. It was like I was in the miltary, but we didnt have uniforms. We were in some arcade, then it morphed into a vietnam like scene. there were people lying face down with hands behind their heads. then there were chinese people just randomly shooting people. i was kind of just walking around people dying, i vividly remember a guy still alive with his face half blown off. it was wierd. I then put my rifle in the back of pants, met up with my dad and were looking for shirts at a store. freaking wierd. what is wrong with me? I am only 22 and have never been in the military or to vietnam or seen anybody get shot except on tv
reasons to ban guns..... Flawed anti-gun progressive logic....? "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." -Benjamin Franklin, 1759 1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, & Chicago cops need guns. 2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control. 3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics showing increasing murder rates after gun control are "just statistics." 4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates, which have been declining since 1991. 5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid. 6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals. 7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you. 8. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet. 9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should "put up no defense - give them what they want, or run" (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete Shields, Guns Don't Die - People Do, 1981, p. 125). 10. The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery. 11. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seatbelts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise. 12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917. 13. The National Guard, federally funded, with bases on federal land, using federally-owned weapons, vehicles, buildings and uniforms, punishing trespassers under federal law, is a "state" militia. 14. These phrases: "right of the people peaceably to assemble," "right of the people to be secure in their homes," "enumerations herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people," and "The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people" all refer to individuals, but "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" refers to the state. 15. "The Constitution is strong and will never change." But we should ban and seize all guns thereby violating the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments to that Constitution. 16. Rifles and handguns aren't necessary to national defense! Of course, the army has hundreds of thousands of them. 17. Private citizens shouldn't have handguns, because they aren't "military weapons'', but private citizens shouldn't have "assault rifles'', because they are military weapons. 18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, fingerprinting, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings. 19. The NRA's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign about kids handling guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign is responsible social activity. 20. Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy. 21. A handgun, with up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the typical adult to learn to use, as opposed to an automobile that only has 20. 22. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men but a woman with a gun is "an accident waiting to happen" and gun makers' advertisements aimed at women are "preying on their fears." 23. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers but revert to normal when the weapon is removed. 24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows. 25. A majority of the population supports gun control, just like a majority of the population supported owning slaves. 26. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a "weapon of mass destruction" or an "assault weapon." 27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted. 28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights. 29. Free speech entitles one to own newspapers, transmitters, computers, and typewriters, but self- defense only justifies bare hands. 30. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the Constitution. 31. Charlton Heston, a movie actor as president of the NRA is a cheap lunatic who should be ignored, but Michael Douglas, a movie actor as a representative of Handgun Control, Inc. is an ambassador for peace who is entitled to an audience at the UN arms control summit. 32. Police operate with backup within groups, which is why they need larger capacity pistol magazines than do "civilians" who must face criminals alone and therefore need less ammunition. 33. We should ban "Saturday Night Specials" and other inexpensive guns because it's not fair that poor people have access to guns too. 34. Police officers have some special Jedi-like mastery over handguns that private citizens can never hope to obtain. 35. Private citizens don't need a gun for self- protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection. 36. Citizens don't need to carry a gun for personal protection but police chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with cops, need a gun. 37. "Assault weapons" have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of people. The police need assault weapons. You do not. 38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential promotion, that's bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that's good. 39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapon.
