Multiple Military Uniform Violations, in Public? I'm in the mall yesterday with my friend. Im in the Navy, home on leave, and he's in the Army, just back home from AIT. Then from the top level we see a guy in ACU's downstairs with his American Flag on the wrong shoulder. So we go downstairs just to let him know, because as far as I'm concerned, as long as you do it respectfully, you can correct an E-9 on his uniform, as long as you do it with the upmost respect. So we catch up to this guy, and we are thinking, there is NO way at all that this guy is in the Army. He is wearing dress uniform collar devices on his ACU's, he is wearing dress uniform ribbons and pins, once again on ACU's, apparently he thinks he's a Sargeant from his E-5 dress uniform pins. He has no cover, his Colors are indeed on the wrong shoulder, and he is wearing a "Big Red One" Unit Patch. Not to mention he hasn't shaved in at least a week. He was entirely jacked up, I could not believe he would even dare to leave the house like that. My friend asks him what he is wearing, and he and his wife start getting all defensive and walk away. Either he got his ACU's from a Tac Store and his pins from Ebay and he should be in jail for impersonating a Government Official. Or if he really is in the Army (I pray to God he's not) he has the biggest pair I've ever seen, because anyone that would even dare to go into public like that an disrespect the Uniform, and every fallen Soldier before him that has worn it, should not have the right to say he's in the Military. What kind of Punishment can you get for doing that? From a UCMJ standpoint in case he was in the Army, and from a Civilian Court standpoint in case he was an imposter just wearing the Uniform to be something he is not? Thats disrespect to me, my friend, and everyone else that wears a Military uniform. Thats why we confronted him. He got embarrased, and then the girl started defending him and they walked away. And people always come through the mall in ACU's. We saw 2 other guys in ACU's, but they were legit, this guy was definately an imposter. We asked him what Unit he was in and where he was stationed, and he couldn't even blurt out Big Red One...even though it was right there on his shoulder....right below his ill placed American Flag. We reported him to Mall Security, but the only thing theyre good for is flirting with the underage girl they are escorting out of the mall after 9pm. So they didnt do anything to better the situation. "It is usually easy for a member of the military to spot a fraud, but with the general public, you never know....." Yea, we spotted him immediately from upstairs, but as he walks around all cocky getting handshakes and thank you's from the civilians, we are behind him in civilian attire, looking at him with disgust we were going to ask him for his Military ID but this so called "E-5" got embarrased and walked away. Someone told me maybe he's wearing it because its his buddy's that died and he's honoring him. I can't think of a bigger DIShonor, than to give my life in war, and have a "friend" wear my Uniform incorrectly, in public nonetheless, and just make a complete mockery of my memory, my service, and my Unit. Just pretty much make a Public Nuisance of everything I gave my life for, and everything that represented me. I don't find any honor at all in having my uniform degraded and worn improperly in public. thats the thing though, its not an old uniform, he was wearing currently issued ACU's. Thats illegal if your not Military Personnel
where can i find big military uniforms ? im joing the civil air patrol need to know where the best stores to get ur uniforms? and air force uniforms in big sizes only got couple stores book mark like to know any more stores.
Is it true that Target the retail store does not support military efforts (i.e. Marines and toys for tots)? From my understanding Target does not support our local military when it comes time for Toys for Tots or any other drive. They will not allow them to stand outside of the stores in their dress uniforms to accept donations or will they donate any time effort or money. Now hopefully I am wrong but if I am not and I do not see proof of this being a misunderstanding, I say as an American, and a military personnel’s wife we should boycott their company until they truly come around to support our troops. Whom by the way everyone including me is indebted to, because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be able to speak my mind right now.
Why are military men just so sexy? im am just sitting here thinking and surfing the web. and a pic of a military guy in uniform came up. and wow sexy!!!!!! i mean not just him sexy but really every time i see a military soldier either at the store or tv. or pics. they look sexy as hell! i mean you just wanna jump on them and kiss them! most of them are sexy like 99.9% i need to start my own military! anyone els thinks the same?
Why do Target Stores disrespect Military people ? Does anyone know if there is any truth to this story ? Posted: Dec 15, 2006 12:29 AM In lancaster, Ohio where my momma lives, the Target Store there won't let anyone shop there if they are in the military. If you have an ID and they see it they kick you out. My uncle was in his uniform going to buy some things and he walked through the door and they told him he couldn't shop here because they don't support the US Military. :( why do people have to be so rude? our men and women are fighting for these people and they can't even give thema little bit of support. stupid I tell you. I refuse to give them any of my business anymore. its just rude and why should I support them when they won't support my husband.
Military: Has anyone ever encountered...? someone who told you off about the war in Iraq? For instance you were just minding your own business walking around a store or mall wearing your uniform and someone either made a negative comment or conversation towards you? I was at the mall sitting on a bench waiting for my friend. A man in the military in his uniform walked out of the store that was infront of me. There was a group of college kids sitting to the bench to the left of me. One yelled out something negative (I'm not even going to repeat it) the military man turned around walked straight up to the group and said "Could you repeat that?" and the group shut up REAL fast. The guy said again "Could you repeat that?" and they just sat there like idiots. Imagine that, one man and this group of 4 college boys didn't know how to handle it.
Questions about Young Marines adult volunteer? I'm 19 years old with no prior military experiance wanting to volunteer for the young Marines. Could anyone explain what I will be doing? Do I wear the uniforms they do? I was told I could get the woodlen uniforms from a military surplus store, what about their dress uniforms? Just feel me in as much as possible please. Thank you, Tyler woodland* uniforms -- I am joining the real Marines but going through school first and building a resume for after the Corps.
What is a more professional job title for 'cashier'? I work in a military exchange so I want to be able to accurately describe my title and the duties I have accomplished (my supervisor says I don't have title..hmph) I have to have knowledge of military uniforms, Western Union money transfers, sales, exchanges & refunds, stock, facing the store, answering questions, receiving packages (like FedEx), etc. Anyone willing to help me with this for my resume?
New AF ABU Uniform colors schemes are different, why ? This may be a dumb question to ask on this, but it's late, and can't ask anyone else at this moment. I just got issued the new AF ABUs and when I went to the military clothing store to try them on, they fit, got my stripes sewn on them, but now that I"m home, I noticed that the pants and shirt are a slightly different shade from each other. Then after researching the uniform online, there's 4 slightly different color schemes. I did not know that when I go them issued, so I'm wondering,,,,I can't be allowed to wear different color schemes, am I ? You'd have to really look to see the difference, but why would they have 4 different colors? And if I"m not allowed to wear 2 different colors, why aren't we being told this when we're trying them on and checking out. Again, I"m only asking now because it's late where I"m at, and I'm going to try bringing them back tomorrow to exchange them. But for now, does anybody know if the AF allows 2 different colors to be worn, I'm guessing no, but like me, I didn't know there was more than one color scheme. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated
What can you tell me about this uniform? I picked this up at a garage sale today and it is very sweet. It is (I think) a World War II uniform. If not that than I would guess Korean. I have a jacket, flannel, and hat. Here are some pictures of them. http://s939.photobucket.com/albums/ad234/dashrendar/ I am curious as to what exactly the patches mean and if I am correct that it is World War II. I love stuff like this, but unfortunately know very little. Anything you could tell me about it would be very sweet. The hat has an Identification card which reads: Name: Sgt. L. M. Vaning, Jr. Organization Co E-53 QM. Reg. Regiment: Ft. Benning, Ga. NATIONAL MILITARY STORES INC. Thanks!
Wearing of outdated military insignia? Earlier today I bought a USN peacoat (ca. WWII) from an antique store for a steal of a price. The rating badge is still attached to the sleeve (Pharmacist's Mate 3rd Class, worn previous to 5/31/41), and I thought I should remove it... however, even though I'm well versed in uniform regulations, as well as federal laws applicable to the wearing of military insignia, I've no clue as to whether it would be a violation of said laws and regulations to wear /outdated/ insignia. I'd rather not remove it if I don't have to -- I've attempted to find out whether it is permissible to leave it on, but to no avail. This is entirely new to me, and I want to be sure. So -- is it permissible to wear outdated / antique insignia? Whatever the answer may be, please provide a source if possible. Thanks in advance. As a former Sailor, I still have copies of Navy uniform regs on my computer (and I stay up to date). I have also performed several searches within U.S. Code, but I have yet to find anything specifically related to outdated insignia -- unless my searches themselves are flawed somehow. Of course, current Navy uniform regs indicate that a rating badge cannot be worn on the peacoat 1) While in civilian clothes, 2) Upon separation/discharge. But those regulations are in reference to current rating badges/insignia. I may have answered my own question, but I have yet to find anything specific to vintage/outdated insignia within U.S. Laws/Code. Here's the applicable statute: Here is the applicable federal statute: Sec. 771. - Unauthorized wearing prohibited Except as otherwise provided by law, no person except a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps, as the case may be, may wear - (1) the uniform, or a distinctive part of the uniform, of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps; or (2) a uniform any part of which is similar to a distinctive part of the uniform of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps --The scope of the law is pretty broad. I suppose it depends on whether "vintage" patches/insignia are still considered uniform items. Although, number 2 (above) indicates that it's adviseable that I take the patch off. Drat. If anyone runs into something more specific, please let me know. Thanks. Thanks everyone. @ Politically Wrong: Yes, I was aware of that -- but your last sentence is what I was looking for. I began searching various re-enacting websites, and if the uniform item is no longer serviceable, obsolete, or otherwise decommissioned, it is evidently legal to wear such items. I'll still look for something definite within the law, but I'm satisfied for now.
What constitutes impersonating a military officer? I purchased an old U.S. Army military outfit (jacket and pants). Displayed on it are two American Eagles (one on each shoulder), two U.S. pins on either flap of the jacket and below those on the same flaps are pins of two artillery barrels crossing over each other. On the left sleeve is a patch with a White Shamrock over a Red Diamond. It is solid green with black stripes along the cuffs and down the pant legs. The buttons are gold covered with an american eagle on them. I'm not entirely what date it's from but it's rather dated by the look of it. Anyways so I'm a fan of dressing up, usually in regular suits but sometimes in other things as well. I particularly find military outfits also very interesting. So I wear this uniform in public. Mind you one of the eagles in the right shoulder is missing (has been since I purchased it) and it does look a little aged. Occasionally I'll have people come up to me and ask me if I'm in the military and I always say no, sometimes people will say to make sure I treat it with respect (and I do), but most recently someone approached me, quite angrily on the way out of a store, and told me that it's a federal offense to impersonate an officer and then simply stomped out. Mind you I do not disrespect this uniform. I keep it in my closet hung up and arranged correctly, when in public I never do anything outlandish like wiping anything on the clothes or whatever, I wear it proudly. The last three (at least) generations of men in my family have all come from military service and so I'm rather comfortable with wearing it. Is this considered impersonating military personnel? Is it simply not old enough? Do I have to remove the pins declaring it a U.S. uniform? Also in the case of State law being an issue, I live in Washington State. I'm here as an out of state college student. From what research I've done none of these medals are awards more than simply pins that display what unit the original wearer was from. The White Shamrock patch is, upon research, representative of the United States 4th Army (1927-1957). What dictates the 0-6 rank on the uniform? Pardon my ignorance.
Why do feminists want to ban Playboy and Penthouse for our men in uniform? Isn't this feminism run amok? http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/04/military_pornography_stores_042208w/ True, Jo. Too often, feminists and rightwingers seem to share a love for limiting free speech. Rebel F, I was responding to Jo. She said she was in favor of this. Baba, you know as well as I do that Andrea Dworkin and other feminists wanted to ban all porn. That's no secret.
Why family members/parents have a harder time with children joining the military rather than going to college? This question is intended for those who have had family members joining the military or thought about joining the military. I am first generation of Salvadorian decent, born in the United States. When my parents came to the United States one of their dreams was to raise their kids in a better educational environment that they never had in El Salvador. I am the oldest child out of 3 so graduating with a high school diploma was something my parents were really happy about. But, when it came to the next step out of high school that was when I got really confused about my future. I wanted to go to college but, I had no way of figuring out how to pay for it. I took a break for a year after graduation to figure out what I want to do with my life. So I went in the direction of the military so I can get some leadership skills and a way for the government to pay for my college education. In the beginning a good number of my family didn't agree with my decision. Especially my father he didn't want me to risk my life working for the government, and he even told me one time that "I rather work in a factory for 20 years then to join the military". But, my mother supported my decision. My grandmother wanted me to continue my education right out of high school and she was expecting more out of me. But, I didn't listen to them and I went in the Navy anyway. I figure I try to make my family proud since I am the very first person in my entire family history to join the military. I have been in the United States Navy for 2 and a half years now and so far things are ok. It's not all that glamorous that I thought it would be. But, it has really helped me with what I really want to do with my life. As of right now all of my family (including the ones who disagreed) are really proud of my decision to enlist in the military. One day when I went back home on leave I went to the recruiter office in my uniform to visit my recruiter. After that I went to a grocery store to buy some food for my mother. As I was checking out my food at the cashier, the cashier lady was talking to me. She seemed like she was in her late 40s. The cashier aked me if I was in the Navy and she told me when she was younger she wanted to join the Navy. But, her mother refused her to join and discouraged her to enlist in the military. She says now she regrets not joining the Navy and wishes she could join when she was younger. A few months ago my younger sister graduated from high school and immediately decided the choice to going to college. My family encouraged and supported her to go get an education and never once discouraged about her decision. I just wondering why a majority (not all) of family members and parents discourage their own family who have thought about joining or are in the processes of joining the military. But, yet if someone wants to go to college they will encourage and support in that direction. Is it because they don't want their children to be in harms way? Or because they won't have their freedom anymore? Or perhaps its because they think college is better than military. I don't know. I'm not a parent and I have never had the experience of someone in my own family that has thought about joining the military (as I wrote earlier I am the very first person in my entire family to join the military). Please give me a detailed answer as to why or why not you encourage the decision of the military. Thank you very much!
Can I wear a Military Jacket? I aks this question before but I need to be 100% sure, I was in the Mexican Army and Air Force and I have the most respect and admiration for the US Military since my parachute course back in Mexico was from an American airplane (C-131) with American pilots, I recently bought a khaki jacket at a surplus army store and I would love to wear it, but I don't know if it is illegal or if I would offend anybody, And what about military patches? is it illegal? I have the Mexican flag, the US flag, parachute letters and parachute wings, all are patches, I would love to wear the jacket with both flags and the patches, but I don't want to offend anybody, the Mexican Army uniform it is identical as the US Army, and also the dog tags witch I still have, but Just to be clear,I love this Country,I found God,a wife, prosperity and most important, freedom,And won't hesitate to put my military training at the service of this great Nation,I know what it takes to earn a uniform, and the pride to wear it,I know the meaning of honor, respect, loyalty and sacrifice for a good cause,I have seen punk rockers with chopped uniforms, and extremist groups looking like Army soldiers but professing hate, and they argue that they do it because they love this Country,to me,they just insulting the image of the American soldier who punts his life on the line to defend his homeland and his freedom, many dont share my thoughts, they are anti military or anti war,but how else can you defend or protect the sovereignty of you nation?this country is what it is thanks to the armed forces, and its prosperity is envied by other countries, especially in the middle east, they hate our freedom and they want to destroy it,but they cant because they know that our man of honor are willing to die for it, please , I will be grateful if someone with some knowledge about this will give me some advise about the jacket and the patches and were can I put them on the jacket if its allowed. i'll give 5 stars to the best answer. thanks
What uniform is this? http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh51/NikkiChokeslam/PragueSailor.jpg Obviously it`s a navy uniform, but what are the specifics? Like: what nation, what sect of the navy (if there is multiple sects. I don`t now anything about military branches), ect. I`m asking because I want to buy that shirt (it`s so cute) and wear it as a dress. If you know where I can purchase one, that would be great as well! (I don`t know if there`s like, some common online surplus store or something...) Any info would be great! : ] for people saying it`s not a real uniform, go here and scroll down a bit: http://theminneapoline.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html im just going by what the blogger wrote, and she stated that the women was indeed in uniform. and sooooo what if I want to buy to wear. Get the fuck over yourselves. kthx How does me wanting it make me stupid? It would probably save me loads because the thrift stores in manhattan/brooklyn are gonna charge me like, four times the price. And that`s if I can even find one. To Alex: It`s called freedom of speech, one the things I actually like about this shitty country. Just because you`re in the military gives you no authority over me. And can you blame me for believing it? Are navy uniform regulations really common knowledge? I actually was planning on leaving. But now that Obama`s in office, I have new found hope for this nation. So I`m gonna continue college here in New York and see if I want to leave or not when I graduate. Bob: "That is no more a real uniform than you are a brain. Both are impossible." Your comment makes no sense. Watch who you`re calling a twit. And I did find a vintage Soviet Union Navy shirt thats pretty similar to the one I wanted. So if you really want to find me, look for me around Williamsburg or the Village. I`ll be wearing the shirt, black tights, grey riding boots and a white loose-knit beret. So you can come call me a twit to my face. k thanks.
Military people boss each other around outside of military branches? Okay, so I work for an airport retailer. I get a lot of soldiers coming through from Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. As well as sailors, national guard and other service people. I was helping a soldier yesterday with a purchase, and he had sunglasses on top of his head (not wearing them) like a lot of people keep them to store them. He was maybe in his 20's at most. Another older guy walks by talking on his cell phone, but stops to tell the younger soldier, "I am a _______ , take those sunglasses off." I thought he said a captain or whatever. The younger guy was in uniform, but clearly not "related" to the older guy in any way. Meanwhile, the older guy is on the cell phone trying to tell someone else not to wear sunglasses...and he's being freaking rude walking along slowly, talking on the phone, blocking the concourse for other people to go through, interrupting me and my customer...and being a total jackass. It made me pretty mad at him...but the younger soldier just shrugged and said, "That's how it is in the military." Are they that freaking hyprocritical? It's ok for the older guy to be rude and inconsiderate of other people and make comments about someone else who isn't physically doing anything to bother anyone? Apparently it was the army. Also, the older guy was not in uniform whatsoever. I've also seen countless pictures of soldiers over in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. wearing sunglasses...it's not a big deal. What's the problem with that? If they can wear them while on duty performing service in Iraq or another country...what's the problem with wearing them in America in uniform?
I am starting a new job next week & I need work clothes. What are good stores? I'm 28 & it's business casual My old job I had to wear scrubs, now my new job it business casual and I don't know any good stores to get the clothes at. All of my regular clothes are really casual and from Express, but I feel that Express has clothes that are too young. I am 28 and in my casual clothes I got mistaken for 19, and I think it was because of the outfit, I don't want that to happen at my new job. I am tall though, 5'9", and I weigh 145 (which is about medium build for my hieght). I wear a size 8 from Express. I have been looking at Banana Republic, The Limited, and Anne Taylor Loft. Any suggestions, are these good stores for work clothes? Thanks for your time as I went from wearing a military uniform after high school, to scrubs, so I never had a need for business clothing.
Why are Republicans trying to take soft p0rn away from our troops? http://www.newsweek.com/id/134035 You know something's wrong when the word areola appears in a bill circulating on Capitol Hill. Republican Congressman Paul Broun, the representative from Georgia's 10th District, wants to stop the sale of Playboy and Penthouse at military bases around the world, invoking an argument that at the very least is scientifically questionable: that consuming even soft pornography makes men more prone to committing sex crimes. A doctor by profession, Broun says he began drafting the bill after a constituent described her distress at having watched, along with her young children, an officer buy a nudie magazine at a military exchange store. "The military teaches to respect officers, and her little kids were seeing this military officer … there in uniform, buying pornography at the PX," Broun told NEWSWEEK. Congress already has a law from 1996 banning the sale of "sexually explicit" material on military bases. But deciding what qualifies as sexually explicit was left to a Department of Defense review board, which gathers periodically to examine a range of magazines and DVDs. In its review two years ago the board banned such titles as Bootylicious and Juggs but decided that Penthouse has enough nonsexual content to be acceptable (Playboy had already been allowed). Lt. Col. Les Melnyk, a Pentagon spokesman, said the board members are kept anonymous in order not to expose them to outside pressure but have included active, reserve and retired members of the military, military spouses, members of dual-military couples and DoD civilians. "The board is very disciplined in adhering to the definitions described in the Instruction [from Congress], and has access to legal counsel to assist members in interpreting the law and the Instruction," Melnyk said in an e-mail. .... His district includes Athens/UGA.
What is your view of a Muslim? Do you see the American Muslim Doctor? Do you see the nice American Muslim family that owns the local convienent store? Do you see the American Muslim college prophessor? When I think of Muslim I see the people in 14 year old girl in Afghanistan that just got given over to marry a 55 year old man for a heard of goats. When I think of Muslim I think of thousands and thousands of Afghanistan and Pakistan Muslims, all dressed in their white robes getting off the jumbo jets from Mecca at the US Army base in Afghanistan, trying earn their salvation from allah. When I think of Muslim I think of the Iraqi soldiers that died every day by car bombers while they were guarding the gates to the Baghdad Army base. When I think of Muslim I think of my good Iraqi Army friends that had to change close before they left the base to travel to go home to their family because if they got cought wearing a military uniform the terrorist would kill them....What do you think of when you think of Muslim?
Why Saudi Treats black people like this? This is the same thing happened (exactly the same) here infront of ATCO bldg.,Dammam. to the guy name Edgar “Egay” Castro , Salesman of east & west est. My question are: What shall we going to do, in time of trouble like this? Are we still safe ,to stay in this country ? Why this thing is happening now a days? Do we have a protection to the government? ________________________________________ Subject: Behind the Enmy Line . . be cautious . .. “ BEHIND ENEMY LINES ” Dear fellow staff, We would like to inform everyone and your family as well, to be cautious in walking along isolated places (where there are no people around). You/we might be the next prey of this unwanted someone, should I say, criminals hanging around, looking for possible victim/s. One of our fellow employee “ MOY JAMIRI ” was the latest victim!!! Here’s the story: Jamiri and some Industrial staff were working overtime yesterday, Friday March 7, 2008 (take note just yesterday!). At around 12:45 pm, after prayer time. It was yet another seem to be, an ordinary working day, but since it’s friday we only have 4 hours (overtime) work. Unfortunately, Moy’s car was under repair, meaning he doesn’t have car in order to reach home “PEACEFULLY”. He asked me (Jonathan B. if you may) to give him a lift. We drove home between 12:50 to 1:00 pm. I dropped him at around 1:10 pm near IPSA (Int’l. Philippine School in Al-khobar, that is where he lives) According to his recount, since lunchtime is almost over, he made up his mind and decided to buy lunch from a nearby restaurant. While on his way (please take note again, that the place is “soundly populated”, but since it’s Friday, the only thing you can see around are cars and buildings who were likewise taking their nap in the middle of the day. Suddenly, out from nowhere, a “private” car with a police horn, stopped from beside jamiri showing out his (the antagonist) ID card that looked like a police ID!. Jamiri being a humble person, knowing that the guy is just like an usual folk asking information about the place, -turned out to be the “UNWANTED SOMEONE” trying his luck of victimizing Jamiri!. The ENEMY is about 5’-7” in height, robust, fair complexion, wearing a military uniform (take note again! He’s not wearing a police uniform! But an army uniform, just like the one’s that our “gate guards” are wearing). When jamiri noticed that the man was shouting and asking him to give up his Iqama!!! Jamiri, as instinct dictates, smelled something odd, he refused to follow, although he already felt nervous from the start, he defiantly said, “why should I give you my Iqama”, it was then that the man, obviously determined of pursuing his dreadful purpose, went out of his car and presto! He catched jamiri’s arm holding it firmly pressuring him and forcibly pushing him inside the man’s car!!! Since Moy is as strong as an elderly camel, he was able to get off and RUN FOR HIS LIFE!!! went to the nearby store!!! Drawing out his cellphone and pretending by calling the police!! . . . the guy never followed!!. .. . The rest is history!!!. . if you give in, who knows what happens next!!!! . . .. *** Be cautious everyone! Give extra careful when walking alone especially on places where cat’s are the only breathing animal around!!! You won’t know you are “behind enemy lines” . . *** Army uniformed man?? Pretending to be a police officer?? Showing his Police ID Asking for Iqama?!. . . Think twice!!! I don’t have e-mail add of the rest of our fellow staff, you may share this to them and to your friends as well..

Have you seen or heard about the new Army Dress Uniform? Won't it having us looking like the Air Force? Good idea or bad idea? Dress Greens Out, Dress Blues In For Army ARLINGTON, Va. -- It's official: The Army's blue Class A uniform will become the single approved Army Service Uniform, triumphing over the less popular dress greens and rarely seen mess-dress whites. The decision was announced Wednesday in an all-Army message from Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey and Sgt. Maj. of the Army Kenneth Preston. The greens and whites are being phased out over the next six years, with the Army mandating dress blues as the exclusive Class A uniform by 2014. The Army began looking at the issue of consolidating its three existing dress uniforms into a single version two years ago, after Gen. Peter Schoomaker, then Army chief of staff, said he wanted to streamline the number of uniforms soldiers purchase and maintain throughout their career. The dress blue uniform, which features a dark blue jacket and light-blue pants, has roots in U.S. Army uniforms that date back to the Revolutionary War, and is usually worn during ceremonies and formal occasions. In contrast, dress greens date only to the 1950s, and are the Army equivalent of a civilian business suit. Dress greens have never been popular with soldiers. Many criticize what they say is an un-military, suit-like appearance and a thick, all-polyester fabric that is sturdy but has an unflattering, stiff drape. The tropic-weight dress white uniform, meanwhile, is so rarely worn that a soldier can easily spend an entire Army career without seeing it. It is passing into history largely unnoticed. But the green-versus-blue debate has been lively and loud in Army circles, and service leaders took input from "hundreds of thousands of soldiers" before deciding to nix the dress greens and revise the wear of the dress blues, according to the message. The result of the input is a new version of the dress blues that will be available in stores in winter 2009, the message said. The new dress blues sport "a more tailored, athletic cut," and will be made from a heavier, more wrinkle-resistant fabric made of 55 percent wool and 45 percent polyester. There also will be heavier, more wrinkle-resistant short- and long-sleeve white shirts. The Army decided not to adopt the gray shirt it had been considering. New recruits will begin receiving dress blues, instead of dress greens, in their initial basic clothing issue beginning in 2010. For the rest of the force, the Army will adjust clothing allowance stipends for enlisted troops to fund the purchase of dress blues, which previously have been an optional-wear item, purchased out of pocket. Officers, meanwhile, will no longer be required to own and maintain both blue and green Class A uniforms. Dress blues will now be worn differently than in the past. The Army will authorize combat service identification badges on the blue jacket, as well as overseas bars on the jacket sleeves of both officers and enlisted soldiers. Enlisted troops can wear their unit insignia on the shoulder loops of the blue coat. Paratroopers, meanwhile, can wear black jump boots with the blue uniform. Blousing -- the practice of tucking pants into boot tops -- will be permitted for soldiers who wear green (Special Forces), tan (Ranger) or maroon (Airborne) berets, soldiers assigned to air assault coded positions and military police on duty. The Army on Monday, August 25 will launch a Web site, www.army.mil/asu, with more details of the uniform and its wear, spokesman Lt. Col. Lee Packnett said. http://www.military.com/features/0,15240,174185,00.html?ESRC=army.nl
Getting stolen merchandise back? This is a ridiculous situation, and I will try to explain thoroughly. My fiance used to date a woman a while back, and when they broke up she took all of his military uniforms ( and I mean A LOT) to a nearby Army Surplus store and sold them, I assume. I know which Army Surplus it is, but trying to buy back all of HIS stuff is ridiculous. Is there any legal way that we can retain his property, and if not how would we go about taking this to court with this woman?
Military men and women, what would you have done? Jail or? In Baton Rouge a few weeks ago, in Radio Shack, an army guy who just got done w/ his training came in and asked for something (forgot what). Well, in the store working there was a black guy working, a middle eastern guy, and a white guy. The army guy got the middle eastern. He simply asked him for a product, the employee said they did not carry it, and the army guy said thank you and turned to leave. When he turned his back the middle eastern guy said something along the lines of "stupid a55hole americans, going over to my country, raping and killing children and women, and think your so bad a55 w/ your uniform". The army guy heard him and some harsh words were exchanged between the two. The cops were called and the ARMY GUY gets arrested for ethnic slandering/assualt (something along those lines). The officers spoke to the employee and came to the conclusion that the army guy either had the option to apologize to the employee and his country or go to jail. He chose jail and now has a court date coming up. What would you have done? fyi: the middle eastern just immigrated to the U.S. I heard this story on the W&J radio show and thought I would share it. If anyone knows more info or if I got some info wrong please let me know. it was funny because a lot of people called in the show asking for specific locations. You do NOT mess with cajun people. Like I said I heard this story on the radio yesterday morning, if some bits are wrong sorry. I am repeating what I heard.
Why do men turn their heads and stare at women on the street even after viewing porn? I know men that make will make a U turn in their car to get another look at a woman jogging down the side walk even though they have a DVD player in their car with porn. We see naked women easily on the PC but yet we stare at the shapes of fully clothed women at the mall or grocery store. I know a guy that offered to pump gas for a lady just to stare at her butt. He is married, and has been for a long time. What is wrong with us? By the way, I have seen women go crazy over guys in Uniforms, like s Sailor, Army, Marine, Cop, UPS. Maybe women are not that different. Any 18 year old knows that the girls love uniformed men, ESPECIALLY military uniforms. Are we all shallow?
Is BDU/ACU pretreated with repellent/insecticide? I recently bought some BDU's at a ranger surplus store, as a costume I am using for a movie project. Since I am filming in a wooded area, I am at risk of being bitten by a tick and contracting some tick-borne disease. I would like to know if military uniforms are pretreated with something like permethrin during the manufacturing process, or if repellents have to be applied by yourself. I have read that some BDU's are pretreated permethrin applied, but are all like this? What about ACU? Thanks guys.
Is Security at Military and CIA Bases Getting Better? Has the USA learned anything about Perimeter Security in the Past Decade? Case #1: The USS Cole -- a man in a small boat who has not been identified in any way approaches to within 10 yards of the USS Cole. He looks like he might be delivering vegetables. But actually his boat contains a bomb. Many US lives are lost. Case #2 Ten years later a man approaches a CIA Camp in Afghanistan. He is unidentifed, but he is wearing the uniform of the Aghanistan Army. He's allowed into the camp. Under his uniform he's wearing an explosive vest. Many US lives are lost. Now, you may be thinking, yes but why didn't you tell the government about perimeter security right after the USS Cole incident. I did, as a consultant to NCIS, at the direction of the Secretary of the Navy, I did. Since that time the methods available for very reliable biometric identification have gotten cheaper, simpler and faster. They rely on the veins in the hand, which are just as distinctive as the iris of the eye, or the structure of the face. That CIA camp in Afghanistan only had a few dozen people who were authorized to be in the camp at all. Let's say 100 people. Well, that data could be stored in .0000000001% of a chip, in a very small battery power machine. It's not a budget buster for the US government to get that done. With such a machine, and a single gate, there would be no need to speculate about somebody's identity based on their uniform. Any person gaining ingress into the camp would be positively identified. Total cost, amortized over say 10,000 hand scans, about 17 cents per scan. Hillary's got $100 Billion to drop on the enviros at Copenhagen, but we can't find 17 cents to keep patriots and heros safe from harm. In 10 years we have learned nothing, nada, nihil, zip, zilch about perimeter security. We can't keep bombers off our planes, crashers out of White House dinner parties. We are hapless, lame, feckless. We accept this because we are not very political people. Most of us just don't care. In a more mentally alert nation, like Switzerland for example, the kind of failures we routinely have would be corrected. Someone would take steps -- fixes would be put in place. If I gave my perimeter security presentation to the Swiss, they would have done something about it. Caring is actually important to getting things done.
Can the military change your discharge after you get out? My brother served 4 years in the USMC. He went to Iraq and got out when he finished his 4 years in 2006 with an Honorable Discharge. He has since joined the anti-war movement. He was photographed wearing anti-war clothing with camos (wasn't even his camos but his buddy's who passed away and his parents gave them to my brother to wear to protests because they believed that what their son would have done if he was to still be alive) nametag ripped off, unit badges and USMC tag still on there. wore the jacket with jeans and an anti-war tshirt underneath, it did not look like a uniform! Someone recognized him from an anti-war protest photo that made tons of newspapers (including the NYT and washington post) and now the USMC is threating to change his discharge to less than honorable just cause he was wearing camos. Can they do that? They sell the same jackets in all army and navy stores and even seen them at the goodwill. Isnt he a civilian now and is able to practice his free speech?

Repost: PLEASE tell what you think about this situation? My sister and her fiance' are in the army. They defend our country. I am VERY strong on supporting soldiers. They give up a lot to defend OUR freedom. Now please tell me is it wrong that today my sisters fiancee' went into the minute market that is down the street from our house. They have been buying cigarettes from there since he has lived here and my sister has been buying them since she was 18 years old. Well he goes in there and says can i get a pack of marbs? and of course she says can i see your ID? well he gives her his military ID. He was in uniform. And the rules in the army are if you're in the military, while you're in uniform you have to use your military ID. It's a regulation. SHE TELLS HIM "WE DO NOT ACCEPT MILITARY ID" What kind of crap is that? How can you NOT accept a military ID. My sisister went into the store and asked her WHY they do not accept them and she said people copy them. MILITARY IDS HAVE COMPUTER CHIPS IN THEM. IF YOU HAVE EVER SEEN ONE THEY ARE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO COPY. So the manager comes out and my sister states her opinion. The manager says you have to have a valid oregon license. She tells him WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MY MILITARY ID AND MY DRIVERS LICENSE. The military ID has your social security number along with all your information. Along with the computer chip. The manager tells my sister "i cant do anything about it, it's not my decision it's the owner of this store who made that decision" ALSO MY SISTER CALLED THE OWNER OF THE STORE. AND THE LADY WAS COMPLETELY RUDE TO HER AND TOLD HER SHE DOESNT CARE THAT SHE CANT BY CIGARETTES. MY SISTER TOLD HER ITS NOT ABOUT THE CIGARETTES ITS THE FACT YOU'RE DENYING MY MILITARY ID. AND THE LADY SAID I DONT CARE AND HUNG UP. SO PRETTY MUCH IS SAYING SHE DOESNT CARE ABOUT THE MILITARY. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME THERE IS SOMETHING MY SISTER AND HER FIANCEE CAN DO ABOUT THIS? IS THERE ANYTHING SHE CAN DO ABOUT THIS?? THAT'S WRONG. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO. I know this is in the wrong category but i don't care..everyone is looking in this category anyway.

Looking for a kit that will properly add devices to ribbons without eyeballing it? I am looking for a something that will properly place my stars on my ribbons for my Marine uniform. I had not seen a kit like this for years and have searched online. No luck at the military clothing stores. Does anyone know of a kit that is available online? I have been doing the old fasion way of poking through the ribbon and eyeballing it. I have also clipped the backs off of them and used tweezers to place them on. I had a friend that years ago had plastic kit that would put any device on a ribbon perfectly. He told me that he had not seen one in years.
whats the difference between peril harbor and 911?? on dec 7th 1941 japan attacked pearl horbor and the united states banned together. women went to work. men that could not join the military lied about there age some commited sucied. they sacrificed to do what they had to. more people died at the world trade center then men at pearl harbor. poeple that had nothing to do with war and matters of that nature. now today everyone is crying about the war on terrior. im in the military and have seen first hand what war brings and i dont condone it by no means what so ever war is cruel and unforegiving.but why is the world have this attuited of lets just wait and see what they do next time? what is so diffrent of what happend in 1941 and now? we go into a store after work with our uniform on and you say crap to us. whats done is done and i dont think there is any way out. bush and bin ladin should go toe to toe and have it out. bush with some moonshine and that texas temper would win. sorry for the miss spelling's
Are any of you guilty of any of these things? 7 Ways to Annoy a Flight Attendant Our anonymous flight attendant has worked for a well-known commercial airline for 12 years. She dishes on what irritates her most in passenger behavior. 1. Bring your pet on the plane and then act like an animal. Over the years, I've seen a pet on a passenger's lap, a pet tucked into a seatback pocket, and a pet loose in the aisle (I nearly hit one with my beverage cart). All of this is against federal regulations. People tell me how well-behaved their pet is, but they can't follow the rules themselves! Your pet must stay in its carrier while you're on the plane. Yes, even if you've paid a "pet-in-cabin" fee. 2. Shove your bag into the first bin you see and then walk to your seat in the back of the plane. You think you're clever, I know. You expect to grab your bag on your way out of the plane, but you're selfishly inconveniencing others. I can't lie and say we flight attendants don't take some small satisfaction when we tell you, "We couldn't identify the bag's owner, so we sent it to cargo." It's a security issue, for real. Carry-ons need to stay near their owners! So don't look so shocked when we say, "The signs will direct you to baggage claim. You can pick up your bag there." 3. Think that because you're on an airplane you're off-duty as a parent. Stop expecting us to have spare diapers, formula, medicine, toys, playing cards, or batteries for DVD players or Game Boys. It's an airplane, not a 7-11. Take your kid to the restroom before you board. Leave the dry cereal and Legos at home and bring snacks and toys for your kids that won't make a horrible mess. 4. Drag on an oversize bag that's too heavy for you to lift by yourself. I won't be compensated for any injuries I might sustain if I heft your bag into the overhead compartment for you. (And other passengers shouldn't have to step up and take the risk either.) The guideline is simple: You pack it, you stack it. Try this at home as a test (and this is to you ladies, especially): After you've packed your bag, put on the shoes you plan to wear on the plane and see if you can lift your bag and place it on top of your refrigerator. You can't? Pay the fee and check the bag. 5. Gripe that you haven't been seated in a roomy exit-row seat. The exit rows weren't created as a reward for people who are tall, overweight, or just plain nice. They were designed to help passengers get out of the plane in an emergency. The people seated in an exit row must be able to see and speak clearly, open the emergency door, and help others. I prefer to see uniformed military, firefighters, law-enforcement officers, or off-duty pilots and flight attendants sitting in those seats. While the gate agent may assign exit-row seats first, the flight attendant makes the final determination about who gets to sit in them. And the quality of our choices is one of the frequent concerns of Federal Aviation Administration officials when they audit airlines for safety practices. So please don't complain. I'm just doing my job. 6. Act like you don't know the meaning of the words "under the seat in front of you." Someday I will be muttering "under the seat in front of you" in the old-age home for flight attendants. What is it that you don't understand? To be clear, items should not be stowed behind your calves, under your feet like a footstool, in the open seat next to you, or in your lap. It's under the seat in front of you. And it applies to everything you carry on board. Items stored carelessly can trip others, or dislodge during takeoff and get lost, or inconvenience others. And while I'm on the topic: Please don't wrap your purse (or umbrella strap) around your ankle to keep from forgetting it. What will happen in an emergency, when every second counts and there's no time to disentangle yourself from your precious bag? Will you drag it ball-and-chain-style down the aisle of a burning plane? 7. Whine about the high price of flying. When I hear people complain about coach airfares, I know they're not keeping up with the news. Fares have rarely been cheaper. In recent years, it's not uncommon for you to be able to cross the continent for under $130 each way, with a maximum of one layover. It's a bargain! At that price, you're barely paying for the fuel to get your body there—never mind the cost of shipping your 50 pounds of gear. You're already on the gravy plane. People point to first class ticket holders and want to know why they don't get the same treatment. Wake up folks: You're getting a great deal. If you want even more, pay more
I gave him my email..how lame of me!? This guy comes into my place of work a couple times a month, He always makes eye contact with me and smiles and all the girls say he likes me...So i was off yesterday so i went to my store, i know how lame, anyways, I went there for food milk blah blah anyways he was getting gas! I was like how cool is this...So he comes inside and pays for his stuff, we walk out together, I gave him my Email...WHY! I dont know, This guy is really nice from what i can tell. He even shook my hand and introuduced himself to me a couple months ago. Anyways He asked me if i had a ride home, i was like yea, so he walked me in the rain to my truck, and hugged me! I was just wandering if me giving my email to him the wrong thing. Should i have given my phone number out? I really didnt want to because of my living situation, i live with my parents...Just wanderding if there was a code of how many days a guy responds to these sorts of things. Hes in the military and oh my looks good in uniform. But very nice, What if i misspelled the email! OH geese...I hope i did not screw this one up! he seemed so into me :(
A U.S. Marine punched me in the head, knocking me out, after i touched his medals, Can I file a lawsuit? I was at the K Mart, and saw a Marine, I called him a baby killer. He ignored me. So then I touched his medals and said, You get these for killing babies. I spit on him. Next thing i know, i was on the ground unconscious the next minute. I did not think he would have the guts to hit me in public, the K Mart, in a public place. The store was empty. Maybe if it was more crowded, he wouldnt have done anything. I thought they cant freaking hit you if they are in uniform? I awoke 10 minutes later in an ambulance. They told me at the hospital, he hit me like 5 and 6 times, after i was out cold. I have 2 missing teeth, and a swollen nose, and swollen eyes and 2 bruises on my head. My hospital bill is over $10,000, including ambulance ride. Can I file a lawsuit against the military, to get them to pay my hospital bills? Plus I missed 3 weeks of work, I lost over $1200 in work pay. Also, they dropped the charges against this guy? How can I re-press them against him? I think he should have charged civily and criminally, I had no clue a uniform man would attack somebody in public place.
My husband cheated, We r separated but now he...? OK, My husband cheated on me we've been separated for almost 5 months now. We have a baby, but we have no contact what so ever. He has tries to get me back. But im firm in my desition to get divorced. He has been emailing me to know how our baby is doing. & he said he wants to talk to me about somethings. Including things he needs to get off his chest. The truth is I love him deeply. Is the first time he has ever done anything like this. & Before he made his huge mistake I had changed. I wasnt the wife he deserved. He was wonderful & great to me. He spoiled me, never said no, he was all about me, he treated me like I was made out of glass. I was rude, I yelled, I would get mad if he brough the wrong things from the store. & he would never fight back. Instead he would kiss me & say when ur no longer mad let me know. He is in the military, & he deployed... He came back changed. He lied about everything, he didnt care if I knew he was with her. He would leave me alone in the house with the baby. He would disapear all day. & the whole time he was trying to get me back he kept on going back to her. He cheated during & after deployment with the same girl. He says he loves me, & he did leave her but i didnt take him back. I treated him like trash, I stepped all over him just like he did with me. As much as I changed, I always stood by him & supported him, I always loved him & at the end of the day I made sure he knew b4 he went to bed. I didnt deserve for him to do such a thing. He left in the middle of the night one time, & when I woke up he wasnt there & he hid my wallet. I grabbed my bb & showed up at her house & he was there. at 3 in the morning. That day he told me once again to stay with him & I said no. I even moved out of the house/ Out of the state to b more specific. Is he going back to her cuz I keep rejecting him?? Cuz I've told him I will never ever get back with him, & that I hate him. Is he settling for her?? We have talk & we have told each other that we love each other. but he keeps going back to that wh*re & he lies about it. He denies being with her. & she stalks him!! Like if he had a golden D!**. The times we have seen each other she wont stop calling & txting. & she writes him pittyful notes begging him not to leave her!! & its humiliating... He went from begging to acting all tough & telling me he dont want me anymore, & about amonth ago he contradicted him self when he saw me after a while we had been incommunicated, he hugged me. He kept staring at me & I asked him why he was looking at me like that & he said "Ur sight to my sore eyes" He tried hugging & kissing me. & he said that he missed me, that he cant stop thinking about how we used to be & that from the bottom of his heart he was sorry for what he did!! That he misses at night when he goes to sleep in an empty bed. & that he loves me. He even asked me to take him back, but once again I said no!! The thruth is I do love him, & miss him. Even if I hide it from him!! I want my baby to grow up with her daddy, & I dont want his dream of having a family to go down the drain ( He is an only child ) He says he is willing to do anything, anything at all. What ever I say. I want to beleive to beleive he is being honest. Things have been going so bad for him. & Is all do to what he did. She told their command what they had & he is in deep trouble. He might loose everything. I know that even though there is no excuse to what he did, I have my fault in the ways things went when he came back. I destroyed everything he owns, sock by sock, uniform by uniform. t.v, wii, playstation, bed, everything. & we had so many fights, I empty out our bank account & left him with no money to spend on her. & I spend most of his deployment money on our baby. & the rest of it he spent on her i think!! I made him tell his parents what he did, cuz I didnt want to b seen as the b*tch who left their son when he just came back from war. I wanted them to know the real reason. I need advice, help... I dont know what he wants to talk about. But he seems to b very eager to talk to me. When he wrote the email he called me the name he calls me when he is being nice & sweet to me. I dont know what to think!! I think he got tired of begging, & getting rejected everythime he tries to make up for what he did. & maybe in a way I pushed him to keep on going back her. Cuz she gave him the love & attenttion that I refused to... Should I even consider trying to fix our marriage. Every saint has a past, therefore every sinner has a future. & even though many never change, some do. & I wont know if he did unless I let him show me. But how can I get all this images, & thoughts off my head, & stop throwing it in his face?? I dont know what to do... Help plz!!!!!

Jews of Iraq? What about them? Of course I thought I knew it all back then. I was young, idealistic, and more than willing to put my life at risk for my convictions. It was 1947 and I wasn't quite 18 when the Iraqi authorities caught me for smuggling young Iraqi Jews like myself out of Iraq, into Iran, and then on to the Promised Land of the soon-to-be established Israel. I was an Iraqi Jew in the Zionist underground. My Iraqi jailers did everything they could to extract the names of my co-conspirators. Fifty years later, pain still throbs in my right toe-a reminder of the day my captors used pliers to remove my toenails. On another occasion, they hauled me to the flat roof of the prison, stripped me bare on a frigid January day, then threw a bucket of cold water over me. I was left there, chained to the railing, for hours. But I never once considered giving them the information they wanted. I was a true believer. My preoccupation during what I refer to as my "two years in hell" was with survival and escape. I had no interest then in the broad sweep of Jewish history in Iraq even though my family had been part of it right from the beginning. We were originally Haroons, a large and important family of the "Babylonian Diaspora." My ancestors had settled in Iraq more than 2,600 years ago-600 years before Christianity, and 1,200 years before Islam. I am descended from Jews who built the tomb of Yehezkel, a Jewish prophet of pre-biblical times. My town, where I was born in 1929, is Hillah, not far from the ancient site of Babylon. The original Jews found Babylon, with its nourishing Tigris and Euphrates rivers, to be truly a land of milk, honey, abundance-and opportunity. Although Jews, like other minorities in what became Iraq, experienced periods of oppression and discrimination depending on the rulers of the period, their general trajectory over two and one-half millennia was upward. Under the late Ottoman rule, for example, Jewish social and religious institutions, schools, and medical facilities flourished without outside interference, and Jews were prominent in government and business. As I sat there in my cell, unaware that a death sentence soon would be handed down against me, I could not have recounted any personal grievances that my family members would have lodged against the government or the Muslim majority. Our family had been treated well and had prospered, first as farmers with some 50,000 acres devoted to rice, dates and Arab horses. Then, with the Ottomans, we bought and purified gold that was shipped to Istanbul and turned into coinage. The Turks were responsible in fact for changing our name to reflect our occupation-we became Khalaschi, meaning "Makers of Pure." I did not volunteer the information to my father that I had joined the Zionist underground. He found out several months before I was arrested when he saw me writing Hebrew and using words and expressions unfamiliar to him. He was even more surprised to learn that, yes, I had decided I would soon move to Israel myself. He was scornful. "You'll come back with your tail between your legs," he predicted. About 125,000 Jews left Iraq for Israel in the late 1940s and into 1952, most because they had been lied to and put into a panic by what I came to learn were Zionist bombs. But my mother and father were among the 6,000 who did not go to Israel. Although physically I never did return to Iraq-that bridge had been burned in any event-my heart has made the journey there many, many times. My father had it right. I was imprisoned at the military camp of Abu-Greib, about 7 miles from Baghdad. When the military court handed down my sentence of death by hanging, I had nothing to lose by attempting the escape I had been planning for many months. It was a strange recipe for an escape: a dab of butter, an orange peel, and some army clothing that I had asked a friend to buy for me at a flea market. I deliberately ate as much bread as I could to put on fat in anticipation of the day I became 18, when they could formally charge me with a crime and attach the 50-pound ball and chain that was standard prisoner issue. Later, after my leg had been shackled, I went on a starvation diet that often left me weak-kneed. The pat of butter was to lubricate my leg in preparation for extricating it from the metal band. The orange peel I surreptitiously stuck into the lock on the night of my planned escape, having studied how it could be placed in such a way as to keep the lock from closing. As the jailers turned to go after locking up, I put on the old army issue that was indistinguishable from what they were wearing-a long, green coat and a stocking cap that I pulled down over much of my face (it was winter). Then I just quietly opened the door and joined the departing group of soldiers as they strode down the hall and outside, and I offered a "good night" to the shift guard as I left. A friend with a car was waiting to speed me away. Later I made my way to the new state of Israel, arriving in May, 1950. My passport had my name in Arabic and English, but the English couldn't capture the "kh" sound, so it was rendered simply as Klaski. At the border, the immigration people applied the English version, which had an Eastern European, Ashkenazi ring to it. In one way, this "mistake" was my key to discovering very soon just how the Israeli caste system worked. They asked me where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. I was the son of a farmer; I knew all the problems of the farm, so I volunteered to go to Dafnah, a farming kibbutz in the high Galilee. I only lasted a few weeks. The new immigrants were given the worst of everything. The food was the same, but that was the only thing that everyone had in common. For the immigrants, bad cigarettes, even bad toothpaste. Everything. I left. Then, through the Jewish Agency, I was advised to go to al-Majdal (later renamed Ashkelon), an Arab town about 9 miles from Gaza, very close to the Mediterranean. The Israeli government planned to turn it into a farmers' city, so my farm background would be an asset there. When I reported to the Labor Office in al-Majdal, they saw that I could read and write Arabic and Hebrew and they said that I could find a good-paying job with the Military Governor's office. The Arabs were under the authority of these Israeli Military Governors. A clerk handed me a bunch of forms in Arabic and Hebrew. Now it dawned on me. Before Israel could establish its farmers' city, it had to rid al-Majdal of its indigenous Palestinians. The forms were petitions to the United Nations Inspectors asking for transfer out of Israel to Gaza, which was under Egyptian control. I read over the petition. In signing, the Palestinian would be saying that he was of sound mind and body and was making the request for transfer free of pressure or duress. Of course, there was no way that they would leave without being pressured to do so. These families had been there hundreds of years, as farmers, primitive artisans, weavers. The Military Governor prohibited them from pursuing their livelihoods, just penned them up until they lost hope of resuming their normal lives. That's when they signed to leave. I was there and heard their grief. "Our hearts are in pain when we look at the orange trees that we planted with our own hands. Please let us go, let us give water to those trees. God will not be pleased with us if we leave His trees untended." I asked the Military Governor to give them relief, but he said, "No, we want them to leave." I could no longer be part of this oppression and I left. Those Palestinians who didn't sign up for transfers were taken by force-just put in trucks and dumped in Gaza. About four thousand people were driven from al-Majdal in one way or another. The few who remained were collaborators with the Israeli authorities. Subsequently, I wrote letters trying to get a government job elsewhere and I got many immediate responses asking me to come for an interview. Then they would discover that my face didn't match my Polish/Ashkenazi name. They would ask if I spoke Yiddish or Polish, and when I said I didn't, they would ask where I came by a Polish name. Desperate for a good job, I would usually say that I thought my great-grandfather was from Poland. I was advised time and again that "we'll give you a call." Eventually, three to four years after coming to Israel, I changed my name to Giladi, which is close to the code name, Gilad, that I had in the Zionist underground. Klaski wasn't doing me any good anyway, and my Eastern friends were always chiding me about the name they knew didn't go with my origins as an Iraqi Jew. I was disillusioned at what I found in the Promised Land, disillusioned personally, disillusioned at the institutionalized racism, disillusioned at what I was beginning to learn about Zionism's cruelties. The principal interest Israel had in Jews from Islamic countries was as a supply of cheap labor, especially for the farm work that was beneath the urbanized Eastern European Jews. Ben Gurion needed the "Oriental" Jews to farm the thousands of acres of land left by Palestinians who were driven out by Israeli forces in 1948. And I began to find out about the barbaric methods used to rid the fledgling state of as many Palestinians as possible. The world recoils today at the thought of bacteriological warfare, but Israel was probably the first to actually use it in the Middle East. In the 1948 war, Jewish forces would empty Arab villages of their populations, often by threats, sometimes by just gunning down a half-dozen unarmed Arabs as examples to the rest. To make sure the Arabs couldn't return to make a fresh life for themselves in these villages, the Israelis put typhus and dysentery bacteria into the water wells. Uri Mileshtin, an official historian for the Israeli Defense Force, has written and spoken about the use of bacteriological agents. According to Mileshtin, Moshe Dayan, a division commander at the time, gave orders in 1948 to remove Arabs from their villages, bulldoze their homes, and render water wells unusable with typhus and dysentery bacteria. Acre was so situated that it could practically defend itself with one big gun, so the Haganah put bacteria into the spring that fed the town. The spring was called Capri and it ran from the north near a kibbutz. The Haganah put typhus bacteria into the water going to Acre, the people got sick, and the Jewish forces occupied Acre. This worked so well that they sent a Haganah division dressed as Arabs into Gaza, where there were Egyptian forces, and the Egyptians caught them putting two cans of bacteria, typhus and dysentery, into the water supply in wanton disregard of the civilian population. "In war, there is no sentiment," one of the captured Haganah men was quoted as saying. My activism in Israel began shortly after I received a letter from the Socialist/Zionist Party asking me to help with their Arabic newspaper. When I showed up at their offices at Central House in Tel Aviv, I asked around to see just where I should report. I showed the letter to a couple of people there and, without even looking at it, they would motion me away with the words, "Room No. 8." When I saw that they weren't even reading the letter, I inquired of several others. But the response was the same, "Room No. 8," with not a glance at the paper I put in front of them. So I went to Room 8 and saw that it was the Department of Jews from Islamic Countries. I was disgusted and angry. Either I am a member of the party or I'm not. Do I have a different ideology or different politics because I am an Arab Jew? It's segregation, I thought, just like a Negroes' Department. I turned around and walked out. That was the start of my open protests. That same year I organized a demonstration in Ashkelon against Ben Gurion's racist policies and 10,000 people turned out. There wasn't much opportunity for those of us who were second class citizens to do much about it when Israel was on a war footing with outside enemies. After the 1967 war, I was in the Army myself and served in the Sinai when there was continued fighting along the Suez Canal. But the cease-fire with Egypt in 1970 gave us our opening. We took to the streets and organized politically to demand equal rights. If it's our country, if we were expected to risk our lives in a border war, then we expected equal treatment. We mounted the struggle so tenaciously and received so much publicity that the Israeli government tried to discredit our movement by calling us "Israel's Black Panthers." They were thinking in racist terms, really, in assuming the Israeli public would reject an organization whose ideology was being compared to that of radical blacks in the United States. But we saw that what we were doing was no different than what blacks in the United States were fighting against-segregation, discrimination, unequal treatment. Rather than reject the label, we adopted it proudly. I had posters of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Nelson Mandela and other civil rights activists plastered all over my office. With the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the Israeli-condoned Sabra and Shatilla massacres, I had had enough of Israel. I became a United States citizen and made certain to revoke my Israeli citizenship. I could never have written and published my book in Israel, not with the censorship they would impose. Even in America, I had great difficulty finding a publisher because many are subject to pressures of one kind or another from Israel and its friends. I ended up paying $60,000 from my own pocket to publish Ben Gurion's Scandals: How the Haganah & the Mossad Eliminated Jews, virtually the entire proceeds from having sold my house in Israel. I still was afraid that the printer would back out or that legal proceedings would be initiated to stop its publication, like the Israeli government did in an attempt to prevent former Mossad case officer Victor Ostrovsky from publishing his first book. Ben Gurion's Scandals had to be translated into English from two languages. I wrote in Hebrew when I was in Israel and hoped to publish the book there, and I wrote in Arabic when I was completing the book after coming to the U.S. But I was so worried that something would stop publication that I told the printer not to wait for the translations to be thoroughly checked and proofread. Now I realize that the publicity of a lawsuit would just have created a controversial interest in the book. I am using bank vault storage for the valuable documents that back up what I have written. These documents, including some that I illegally copied from the archives at Yad Vashem, confirm what I saw myself, what I was told by other witnesses, and what reputable historians and others have written concerning the Zionist bombings in Iraq, Arab peace overtures that were rebuffed, and incidents of violence and death inflicted by Jews on Jews in the cause of creating Israel. The Riots of 1941 If, as I have said, my family in Iraq was not persecuted personally and I knew no deprivation as a member of the Jewish minority, what led me to the steps of the gallows as a member of the Zionist underground? To answer that question, it is necessary to establish the context of the massacre that occurred in Baghdad on June 1, 1941, when several hundred Iraqi Jews were killed in riots involving junior officers of the Iraqi army. I was 12 years of age and many of those killed were my friends. I was angry, and very confused. What I didn't know at the time was that the riots most likely were stirred up by the British, in collusion with a pro-British Iraqi leadership. With the breakup of the Ottoman Empire following WW I, Iraq came under British "tutelage." Amir Faisal, son of Sharif Hussein who had led the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman sultan, was brought in from Mecca by the British to become King of Iraq in 1921. Many Jews were appointed to key administrative posts, including that of economics minister. Britain retained final authority over domestic and external affairs. Britain's pro-Zionist attitude in Palestine, however, triggered a growing anti-Zionist backlash in Iraq, as it did in all Arab countries. Writing at the end of 1934, Sir Francis Humphreys, Britain's Ambassador in Baghdad, noted that, while before WW I Iraqi Jews had enjoyed a more favorable position than any other minority in the country, since then "Zionism has sown dissension between Jews and Arabs, and a bitterness has grown up between the two peoples which did not previously exist." King Faisal died in 1933. He was succeeded by his son Ghazi, who died in a motor car accident in 1939. The crown then passed to Ghazi's 4-year-old son, Faisal II, whose uncle, Abd al-Ilah, was named regent. Abd al-Ilah selected Nouri el-Said as prime minister. El-Said supported the British and, as hatred of the British grew, he was forced from office in March 1940 by four senior army officers who advocated Iraq's independence from Britain. Calling themselves the Golden Square, the officers compelled the regent to name as prime minister Rashid Ali al-Kilani, leader of the National Brotherhood party. The time was 1940 and Britain was reeling from a strong German offensive. Al-Kilani and the Golden Square saw this as their opportunity to rid themselves of the British once and for all. Cautiously they began to negotiate for German support, which led the pro-British regent Abd al-Ilah to dismiss al-Kilani in January 1941. By April, however, the Golden Square officers had reinstated the prime minister. This provoked the British to send a military force into Basra on April 12, 1941. Basra, Iraq's second largest city, had a Jewish population of 30,000. Most of these Jews made their livings from import/export, money changing, retailing, as workers in the airports, railways, and ports, or as senior government employees. On the same day, April 12, supporters of the pro-British regent notified the Jewish leaders that the regent wanted to meet with them. As was their custom, the leaders brought flowers for the regent. Contrary to custom, however, the cars that drove them to the meeting place dropped them off at the site where the British soldiers were concentrated. Photographs of the Jews appeared in the following day's newspapers with the banner "Basra Jews Receive British Troops with Flowers." That same day, April 13, groups of angry Arab youths set about to take revenge against the Jews. Several Muslim notables in Basra heard of the plan and calmed things down. Later, it was learned that the regent was not in Basra at all and that the matter was a provocation by his pro-British supporters to bring about an ethnic war in order to give the British army a pretext to intervene. The British continued to land more forces in and around Basra. On May 7, 1941, their Gurkha unit, composed of Indian soldiers from that ethnic group, occupied Basra's el-Oshar quarter, a neighborhood with a large Jewish population. The soldiers, led by British officers, began looting. Many shops in the commercial district were plundered. Private homes were broken into. Cases of attempted rape were reported. Local residents, Jews and Muslims, responded with pistols and old rifles, but their bullets were no match for the soldiers' Tommy Guns. Afterwards, it was learned that the soldiers acted with the acquiescence, if not the blessing, of their British commanders. (It should be remembered that the Indian soldiers, especially those of the Gurkha unit, were known for their discipline, and it is highly unlikely they would have acted so riotously without orders.) The British goal clearly was to create chaos and to blacken the image of the pro-nationalist regime in Baghdad, thereby giving the British forces reason to proceed to the capital and to overthrow the al-Kilani government. Baghdad fell on May 30. Al-Kilani fled to Iran, along with the Golden Square officers. Radio stations run by the British reported that Regent Abd al-Ilah would be returning to the city and that thousands of Jews and others were planning to welcome him. What inflamed young Iraqis against the Jews most, however, was the radio announcer Yunas Bahri on the German station "Berlin," who reported in Arabic that Jews from Palestine were fighting alongside the British against Iraqi soldiers near the city of Faluja. The report was false. On Sunday, June 1, unarmed fighting broke out in Baghdad between Jews who were still celebrating their Shabuoth holiday and young Iraqis who thought the Jews were celebrating the return of the pro-British regent. That evening, a group of Iraqis stopped a bus, removed the Jewish passengers, murdered one and fatally wounded a second. About 8:30 the following morning, some 30 individuals in military and police uniforms opened fire along el-Amin street, a small downtown street whose jewelry, tailor and grocery shops were Jewish-owned. By 11 a.m., mobs of Iraqis with knives, switchblades and clubs were attacking Jewish homes in the area. The riots continued throughout Monday, June 2. During this time, many Muslims rose to defend their Jewish neighbors, while some Jews successfully defended themselves. There were 124 killed and 400 injured, according to a report written by a Jewish Agency messenger who was in Iraq at the time. Other estimates, possibly less reliable, put the death toll higher, as many as 500, with from 650 to 2,000 injured. From 500 to 1,300 stores and more than 1,000 homes and apartments were looted. Who was behind the rioting in the Jewish quarter? Yosef Meir, one of the most prominent activists in the Zionist underground movement in Iraq, known then as Yehoshafat, claims it was the British. Meir, who now works for the Israeli Defense Ministry, argues that, in order to make it appear that the regent was returning as the savior who would reestablish law and order, the British stirred up the riots against the most vulnerable and visible segment in the city, the Jews. And, not surprisingly, the riots ended as soon as the regent's loyal soldiers entered the capital. My own investigations as a journalist lead me to believe Meir is correct. Furthermore, I think his claims should be seen as based on documents in the archives of the Israeli Defense Ministry, the agency that published his book. Yet, even before his book came out, I had independent confirmation from a man I met in Iran in the late Forties. His name was Michael Timosian, an Iraqi Armenian. When I met him he was working as a male nurse at the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company in Abadan in the south of Iran. On June 2, 1941, however, he was working at the Baghdad hospital where many of the riot victims were brought. Most of these victims were Jews. Timosian said he was particularly interested in two patients whose conduct did not follow local custom. One had been hit by a bullet in his shoulder, the other by a bullet in his right knee. After the doctor removed the bullets, the staff tried to change their blood-soaked cloths. But the two men fought off their efforts, pretending to be speechless, although tests showed they could hear. To pacify them, the doctor injected them with anesthetics and, as they were sleeping, Timosian changed their cloths. He discovered that one of them had around his neck an identification tag of the type used by British troops, while the other had tattoos with Indian script on his right arm along with the familiar sword of the Gurkha. The next day when Timosian showed up for work, he was told that a British officer, his sergeant and two Indian Gurkha soldiers had come to the hospital early that morning. Staff members overheard the Gurkha soldiers talking with the wounded patients, who were not as dumb as they had pretended. The patients saluted the visitors, covered themselves with sheets and, without signing the required release forms, left the hospital with their visitors. Today there is no doubt in my mind that the anti-Jewish riots of 1941 were orchestrated by the British for geopolitical ends. David Kimche is certainly a man who was in a position to know the truth, and he has spoken publicly about British culpability. Kimche had been with British Intelligence during WW II and with the Mossad after the war. Later he became Director General of Israel's Foreign Ministry, the position he held in 1982 when he addressed a forum at the British Institute for International Affairs in London. In responding to hostile questions about Israel's invasion of Lebanon and the refugee camp massacres in Beirut, Kimche went on the attack, reminding the audience that there was scant concern in the British Foreign Office when British Gurkha units participated in the murder of 500 Jews in the streets of Baghdad in 1941. The Bombings of 1950-1951 The anti-Jewish riots of 1941 did more than create a pretext for the British to enter Baghdad to reinstate the pro-British regent and his pro-British prime minister, Nouri el-Said. They also gave the Zionists in Palestine a pretext to set up a Zionist underground in Iraq, first in Baghdad, then in other cities such as Basra, Amara, Hillah, Diwaneia, Abril and Karkouk. Following WW II, a succession of governments held brief power in Iraq. Zionist conquests in Palestine, particularly the massacre of Palestinians in the village of Deir Yassin, emboldened the anti-British movement in Iraq. When the Iraqi government signed a new treaty of friendship with London in January 1948, riots broke out all over the country. The treaty was quickly abandoned and Baghdad demanded removal of the British military mission that had run Iraq's army for 27 years. Later in 1948, Baghdad sent an army detachment to Palestine to fight the Zionists, and when Israel declared independence in May, Iraq closed the pipeline that fed its oil to Haifa's refinery. Abd al-Ilah, however, was still regent and the British quisling, Nouri el-Said, was back as prime minister. I was in the Abu-Greib prison in 1948, where I would remain until my escape to Iran in September 1949. Six months later-the exact date was March 19, 1950-a bomb went off at the American Cultural Center and Library in Baghdad, causing property damage and injuring a number of people. The center was a favorite meeting place for young Jews. The first bomb thrown directly at Jews occurred on April 8, 1950, at 9:15 p.m. A car with three young passengers hurled the grenade at Baghdad's El-Dar El-Bida Café, where Jews were celebrating Passover. Four people were seriously injured. That night leaflets were distributed calling on Jews to leave Iraq immediately. The next day, many Jews, most of them poor with nothing to lose, jammed emigration offices to renounce their citizenship and to apply for permission to leave for Israel. So many applied, in fact, that the police had to open registration offices in Jewish schools and synagogues. On May 10, at 3 a.m., a grenade was tossed in the direction of the display window of the Jewish-owned Beit-Lawi Automobile Company, destroying part of the building. No casualties were reported. On June 3, 1950, another grenade was tossed from a speeding car in the El-Batawin area of Baghdad where most rich Jews and middle class Iraqis lived. No one was hurt, but following the explosion Zionist activists sent telegrams to Israel requesting that the quota for immigration from Iraq be increased. On June 5, at 2:30 a.m., a bomb exploded next to the Jewish-owned Stanley Shashua building on El-Rashid street, resulting in property damage but no casualties. On January 14, 1951, at 7 p.m., a grenade was thrown at a group of Jews outside the Masouda Shem-Tov Synagogue. The explosive struck a high-voltage cable, electrocuting three Jews, one a young boy, Itzhak Elmacher, and wounding over 30 others. Following the attack, the exodus of Jews jumped to between 600-700 per day. Zionist propagandists still maintain that the bombs in Iraq were set off by anti-Jewish Iraqis who wanted Jews out of their country. The terrible truth is that the grenades that killed and maimed Iraqi Jews and damaged their property were thrown by Zionist Jews. Among the most important documents in my book, I believe, are copies of two leaflets published by the Zionist underground calling on Jews to leave Iraq. One is dated March 16, 1950, the other April 8, 1950. The difference between these two is critical. Both indicate the date of publication, but only the April 8th leaflet notes the time of day: 4 p.m. Why the time of day? Such a specification was unprecedented. Even the investigating judge, Salaman El-Beit, found it suspicious. Did the 4 p.m. writers want an alibi for a bombing they knew would occur five hours later? If so, how did they know about the bombing? The judge concluded they knew because a connection existed between the Zionist underground and the bomb throwers. This, too, was the conclusion of Wilbur Crane Eveland, a former senior officer in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), whom I had the opportunity to meet in New York in 1988. In his book, Ropes of Sand, whose publication the CIA opposed, Eveland writes: In attempts to portray the Iraqis as anti-American and to terrorize the Jews, the Zionists planted bombs in the U.S. Information Service library and in synagogues. Soon leaflets began to appear urging Jews to flee to Israel. . . . Although the Iraqi police later provided our embassy with evidence to show that the synagogue and library bombings, as well as the anti-Jewish and anti-American leaflet campaigns, had been the work of an underground Zionist organization, most of the world believed reports that Arab terrorism had motivated the flight of the Iraqi Jews whom the Zionists had "rescued" really just in order to increase Israel's Jewish population." Eveland doesn't detail the evidence linking the Zionists to the attacks, but in my book I do. In 1955, for example, I organized in Israel a panel of Jewish attorneys of Iraqi origin to handle claims of Iraqi Jews who still had property in Iraq. One well known attorney, who asked that I not give his name, confided in me that the laboratory tests in Iraq had confirmed that the anti-American leaflets found at the American Cultural Center bombing were typed on the same typewriter and duplicated on the same stenciling machine as the leaflets distributed by the Zionist movement just before the April 8th bombing. Tests also showed that the type of explosive used in the Beit-Lawi attack matched traces of explosives found in the suitcase of an Iraqi Jew by the name of Yosef Basri. Basri, a lawyer, together with Shalom Salih, a shoemaker, would be put on trial for the attacks in December 1951 and executed the following month. Both men were members of Hashura, the military arm of the Zionist underground. Salih ultimately confessed that he, Basri and a third man, Yosef Habaza, carried out the attacks. By the time of the executions in January 1952, all but 6,000 of an estimated 125,000 Iraqi Jews had fled to Israel. Moreover, the pro-British, pro-Zionist puppet el-Said saw to it that all of their possessions were frozen, including their cash assets. (There were ways of getting Iraqi dinars out, but when the immigrants went to exchange them in Israel they found that the Israeli government kept 50 percent of the value.) Even those Iraqi Jews who had not registered to emigrate, but who happened to be abroad, faced loss of their nationality if they didn't return within a specified time. An ancient, cultured, prosperous community had been uprooted and its people transplanted to a land dominated by East European Jews, whose culture was not only foreign but entirely hateful to them. The Ultimate Criminals Zionist Leaders. From the start they knew that in order to establish a Jewish state they had to expel the indigenous Palestinian population to the neighboring Islamic states and import Jews from these same states. * Theodor Herzl, the architect of Zionism, thought it could be done by social engineering. In his diary entry for 12 June 1885, he wrote that Zionist settlers would have to "spirit the penniless population across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it any employment in our own country." * Vladimir Jabotinsky, Prime Minister Netanyahu's ideological progenitor, frankly admitted that such a transfer of populations could only be brought about by force. * David Ben Gurion, Israel's first prime minister, told a Zionist Conference in 1937 that any proposed Jewish state would have to "transfer Arab populations out of the area, if possible of their own free will, if not by coercion." After 750,000 Palestinians were uprooted and their lands confiscated in 1948-49, Ben Gurion had to look to the Islamic countries for Jews who could fill the resultant cheap labor market. "Emissaries" were smuggled into these countries to "convince" Jews to leave either by trickery or fear. In the case of Iraq, both methods were used: uneducated Jews were told of a Messianic Israel in which the blind see, the lame walk, and onions grow as big as melons; educated Jews had bombs thrown at them. A few years after the bombings, in the early 1950s, a book was published in Iraq, in Arabic, titled Venom of the Zionist Viper. The author was one of the Iraqi investigators of the 1950-51 bombings and, in his book, he implicates the Israelis, specifically one of the emissaries sent by Israel, Mordechai Ben-Porat. As soon as the book came out, all copies just disappeared, even from libraries. The word was that agents of the Israeli Mossad, working through the U.S. Embassy, bought up all the books and destroyed them. I tried on three different occasions to have one sent to me in Israel, but each time Israeli censors in the post office intercepted it. British Leaders. Britain always acted in its best colonial interests. For that reason Foreign Minister Arthur Balfour sent his famous 1917 letter to Lord Rothschild in exchange for Zionist support in WW I. During WW II the British were primarily concerned with keeping their client states in the Western camp, while Zionists were most concerned with the immigration of European Jews to Palestine, even if this meant cooperating with the Nazis. (In my book I document numerous instances of such dealings by Ben Gurion and the Zionist leadership.) After WW II the international chessboard pitted communists against capitalists. In many countries, including the United States and Iraq, Jews represented a large part of the Communist party. In Iraq, hundreds of Jews of the working intelligentsia occupied key positions in the hierarchy of the Communist and Socialist parties. To keep their client countries in the capitalist camp, Britain had to make sure these governments had pro-British leaders. And if, as in Iraq, these leaders were overthrown, then an anti-Jewish riot or two could prove a useful pretext to invade the capital and reinstate the "right" leaders. Moreover, if the possibility existed of removing the communist influence from Iraq by transferring the whole Jewish community to Israel, well then, why not? Particularly if the leaders of Israel and Iraq conspired in the deed. The Iraqi Leaders. Both the regent Abd al-Ilah and his prime minister Nouri el- Said took directions from London. Toward the end of 1948, el-Said, who had already met with Israel's Prime Minister Ben Gurion in Vienna, began discussing with his Iraqi and British associates the need for an exchange of populations. Iraq would send the Jews in military trucks to Israel via Jordan, and Iraq would take in some of the Palestinians Israel had been evicting. His proposal included mutual confiscation of property. London nixed the idea as too radical. El-Said then went to his back-up plan and began to create the conditions that would make the lives of Iraqi Jews so miserable they would leave for Israel. Jewish government employees were fired from their jobs; Jewish merchants were denied import/export licenses; police began to arrest Jews for trivial reasons. Still the Jews did not leave in any great numbers. In September 1949, Israel sent the spy Mordechai Ben-Porat, the one mentioned in Venom of the Zionist Viper, to Iraq. One of the first things Ben-Porat did was to approach el-Said and promise him financial incentives to have a law enacted that would lift the citizenship of Iraqi Jews. Soon after, Zionist and Iraqi representatives began formulating a rough draft of the bill, according to the model dictated by Israel through its agents in Baghdad. The bill was passed by the Iraqi parliament in March 1950. It empowered the government to issue one-time exit visas to Jews wishing to leave the country. In March, the bombings began. Sixteen years later, the Israeli magazine Haolam Hazeh, published by Uri Avnery, then a Knesset member, accused Ben-Porat of the Baghdad bombings. Ben-Porat, who would become a Knesset member himself, denied the charge, but never sued the magazine for libel. And Iraqi Jews in Israel still call him Morad Abu al-Knabel, Mordechai of the Bombs. As I said, all this went well beyond the comprehension of a teenager. I knew Jews were being killed and an organization existed that could lead us to the Promised Land. So I helped in the exodus to Israel. Later, on occasions, I would bump into some of these Iraqi Jews in Israel. Not infrequently they'd express the sentiment that they could kill me for what I had done. Opportunities for Peace After the Israeli attack on the Jordanian village of Qibya in October, 1953, Ben Gurion went into voluntary exile at the Sedeh Boker kibbutz in the Negev. The Labor party then used to organize many buses for people to go visit him there, where they would see the former prime minister working with sheep. But that was only for show. Really he was writing his diary and continuing to be active behind the scenes. I went on such a tour. Ben Gurion's Scandals by N.Giladi How the Haganah and Mossad eliminated Jews. Available in our BookstoreWe were told not to try to speak to Ben Gurion, but when I saw him, I asked why, since Israel is a democracy with a parliament, does it not have a constitution? Ben Gurion said, "Look, boy"-I was 24 at the time-"if we have a constitution, we have to write in it the border of our country. And this is not our border, my dear." I asked, "Then where is the border?" He said, "Wherever the Sahal will come, this is the border." Sahal is the Israeli army. Ben Gurion told the world that Israel accepted the partition and the Arabs rejected it. Then Israel took half of the land that was promised to the Arab state. And still he was saying it was not enough. Israel needed more land. How can a country make peace with its neighbors if it wants to take their land? How can a country demand to be secure if it won't say what borders it will be satisfied with? For such a country, peace would be an inconvenience. I know now that from the beginning many Arab leaders wanted to make peace with Israel, but Israel always refused. Ben Gurion covered this up with propaganda. He said that the Arabs wanted to drive Israel into the sea and he called Gamal Abdel Nasser the Hitler of the Middle East whose foremost intent was to destroy Israel. He wanted America and Great Britain to treat Nasser like a pariah. In 1954, it seemed that America was getting less critical of Nasser. Then during a three-week period in July, several terrorist bombs were set off: at the United States Information Agency offices in Cairo and Alexandria, a British-owned theater, and the central post office in Cairo. An attempt to firebomb a cinema in Alexandria failed when the bomb went off in the pocket of one of the perpetrators. That led to the discovery that the terrorists were not anti-Western Egyptians, but were instead Israeli spies bent on souring the warming relationship between Egypt and the United States in what came to be known as the Lavon Affair. Ben Gurion was still living on his kibbutz. Moshe Sharett as prime minister was in contact with Abdel Nasser through the offices of Lord Maurice Orbach of Great Britain. Sharett asked Nasser to be lenient with the captured spies, and Nasser did all that was in his power to prevent a deterioration of the situation between the two countries. Then Ben Gurion returned as Defense Minister in February, 1955. Later that month Israeli troops attacked Egyptian military camps and Palestinian refugees in Gaza, killing 54 and injuring many more. The very night of the attack, Lord Orbach was on his way to deliver a message to Nasser, but was unable to get through because of the military action. When Orbach telephoned, Nasser's secretary told him that the attack proved that Israel did not want peace and that he was wasting his time as a mediator. In November, Ben Gurion announced in the Knesset that he was willing to meet with Abdel Nasser anywhere and at any time for the sake of peace and understanding. The next morning the Israeli military attacked an Egyptian military camp in the Sabaha region. Although Nasser felt pessimistic about achieving peace with Israel, he continued to send other mediators to try. One was through the American Friends Service Committee; another via the Prime Minister of Malta, Dom Minthoff; and still another through Marshall Tito of Yugoslavia. One that looked particularly promising was through Dennis Hamilton, editor of The London Times. Nasser told Hamilton that if only he could sit and talk with Ben Gurion for two or three hours, they would be able to settle the conflict and end the state of war between the two countries. When word of this reached Ben Gurion, he arranged to meet with Hamilton. They decided to pursue the matter with the Israeli ambassador in London, Arthur Luria, as liaison. On Hamilton's third trip to Egypt, Nasser met him with the text of a Ben Gurion speech stating that Israel would not give up an inch of land and would not take back a single refugee. Hamilton knew that Ben Gurion with his mouth had undermined a peace mission and missed an opportunity to settle the Israeli-Arab conflict. Nasser even sent his friend Ibrahim Izat of the Ruz El Yusuf weekly paper to meet with Israeli leaders in order to explore the political atmosphere and find out why the attacks were taking place if Israel really wanted peace. One of the men Izat met with was Yigal Yadin, a former Chief of Staff of the army who wrote this letter to me on 14 January 1982: Dear Mr. Giladi: Your letter reminded me of an event which I nearly forgot and of which I remember only a few details. Ibrahim Izat came to me if I am not mistaken under the request of the Foreign Ministry or one of its branches; he stayed in my house and we spoke for many hours. I do not remember him saying that he came on a mission from Nasser, but I have no doubt that he let it be understood that this was with his knowledge or acquiescence.... When Nasser decided to nationalize the Suez Canal in spite of opposition from the British and the French, Radio Cairo announced in Hebrew: If the Israeli government is not influenced by the British and the French imperialists, it will eventually result in greater understanding between the two states, and Egypt will reconsider Israel's request to have access to the Suez Canal. Israel responded that it had no designs on Egypt, but at that very moment Israeli representatives were in France planning the three-way attack that was to take place in October, 1956. All the while, Ben Gurion continued to talk about the Hitler of the Middle East. This brainwashing went on until late September, 1970, when Gamal Abdel Nasser passed away. Then, miracle of miracles, David Ben Gurion told the press: A week before he died I received an envoy from Abdel Nasser who asked to meet with me urgently in order to solve the problems between Israel and the Arab world. The public was surprised because they didn't know that Abdel Nasser had wanted this all along, but Israel sabotaged it. Nasser was not the only Arab leader who wanted to make peace with Israel. There were many others. Brigadier General Abdel Karim Qasem, before he seized power in Iraq in July, 1958, headed an underground organization that sent a delegation to Israel to make a secret agreement. Ben Gurion refused even to see him. I learned about this when I was a journalist in Israel. But whenever I tried to publish even a small part of it, the censor would stamp it "Not Allowed." Now, in Netanyahu, we are witnessing another attempt by an Israeli prime minister to fake an interest in making peace. Netanyahu and the Likud are setting Arafat up by demanding that he institute more and more repressive measures in the interest of Israeli "security." Sooner or later I suspect the Palestinians will have had enough of Arafat's strong-arm methods as Israel's quisling-and he'll be killed. Then the Israeli government will say, "See, we were ready to give him everything. You can't trust those Arabs-they kill each other. Now there's no one to even talk to about peace." Conclusion Alexis de Tocqueville once observed that it is easier for the world to accept a simple lie than a complex truth. Certainly it has been easier for the world to accept the Zionist lie that Jews were evicted from Muslim lands because of anti-Semitism, and that Israelis, never the Arabs, were the pursuers of peace. The truth is far more discerning: bigger players on the world stage were pulling the strings. These players, I believe, should be held accountable for their crimes, particularly when they willfully terrorized, dispossessed and killed innocent people on the altar of some ideological imperative. I believe, too, that the descendants of these leaders have a moral responsibility to compensate the victims and their descendants, and to do so not just with reparations, but by setting the historical record straight. That is why I established a panel of inquiry in Israel to seek reparations for Iraqi Jews who had been forced to leave behind their property and possessions in Iraq. That is why I joined the Black Panthers in confronting the Israeli government with the grievances of the Jews in Israel who came from Islamic lands. And that is why I have written my book and this article: to set the historical record straight. We Jews from Islamic lands did not leave our ancestral homes because of any natural enmity between Jews and Muslims. And we Arabs-I say Arab because that is the language my wife and I still speak at home-we Arabs on numerous occasions have sought peace with the State of the Jews. And finally, as a U.S. citizen and taxpayer, let me say that we Americans need to stop supporting racial discrimination in Israel and the cruel expropriation of lands in the West Bank, Gaza, South Lebanon and the Golan Heights.
What if we do nothing about amnesty? The following is what will happen if we do not stop the Mexican invasion. WHEN THE BLUE HATS COME “219 killed in May, Damn,” Joe said to Dave as he read the headlines. “The surge isn’t working,” said Dave. “But this is only the beginning. Soon the blue hats will come” “How do you figure that?” “Iran will be blamed for the failure of the surge. The president will again accuse Iran of supplying weapons, but this time he will order them to stop or face military reprisal. Then the UN will step in and take our guns. It is coming soon, in the next two years. Then they will take our guns. Better get them now before you have to register even shotguns” Joe and Dave were Vietnam War veterans who met for coffee on Wednesdays and Fridays before their support group. Vietnam Veterans did not trust the government for good reasons. In February 1968, the North Vietnamese hit us with every thing that they had. They moved swiftly and took over major cities and South Vietnamese positions. With in six months we had taken back everything. They had spent most of their forces on the Tet Offensive. Westmoreland told Johnson that with 150,000 troops he could push the NVR north of the seventeenth parallel. Johnson sent 16,000 and the war went on for another ten years costing an additional 50,000 troops lives. Joe thought about it on the bus ride home he had several guns including an Uzi. However, he mostly tried to put it out of his mind. He was an advocate for Veterans issues. Dave was running a camp for when the blue hats came. He sure did not want to go to that extreme. Just last month he had talked at the camp. .It was much different from what he expected if he had indeed any expiation. He encouraged them to get themselves registered to vote and write Senators and Representatives about our cause and to stand up for Veterans rights. “No we need to keep a low profile. Don’t want to let them know besides we don’t know who we can trust!” He had assured them that the government knows where you are all the time. “Let them think we have our minds on other things.” In addition, Joe was thinking more every day that his friend was right. Still he wondered how it might come about. Joe had went to college on the GI Bill but never declared a major. He did however spend a semester reading political science. He did not agree with the war effort in Iraq we were duped. However, we were there and should fight to win. They should have sent enough to do the job. The Generals should have anticipated the infighting that occurred afterward. Therefore, to get one world government the president gets us into a thousand year old war. War with Iran would precipitate an all out war in the Gulf. On the other hand, maybe he wants to start a civil war so we can take over their oil while they are fighting. By the time Joe got home, his head was spinning governed by what he called the committee in the back room. Coming into the apartment, he felt more relaxed. Joe did not like crowds. He locked and double-checked the doors and windows. He went into his office, the other bedroom. He opened the closet and checked out his guns. Dave keeps telling him to get more ammunition. All he wanted to do was relax. He turned on the news on TV. No! He thought, not this! The President was talking. He had warned Iran they if they continue to interfere it would mean war. He ordered the Seventh Fleet lead by the “fighting gun ship” the Oklahoma City to the gulf. Four aircraft carriers were close by on maneuvers. Wonder how that happened. The president had ordered reserves and National Guard units back to into active duty. Joe flopped down into his recliner the committee was debating. He jumped up and checked the doors. The phone rang startling him. It was Dave asking if he had heard the news. He had said that when to blue hats come you could always camp with me. Dave had reminded him to get ammunition and stock up on non-perishables. He remembered beef jerky would curb your appetite and give you your needed salt. He had been for the last two years been buying gold chains, which he figured it to be a medium of exchange. He was in touch with ten thousand vets most were working with him, passing on the word or bringing others to the website. If Dave was right, he had to act quickly. ‘Still how was this going to happen here?’ he thought. Joe thought back to his political class with Professor Winthrop. Hitler had used the violence in the street that he perpetrated to declare marshal law. That was the transition. He uses this war to declare marshal law, reinstates the draft to keep the peace at home. Dave is right all they have to do is change uniforms. He could hear Dave and his conversation. “When the blue hats come first they will take our guns. “ Tell me again why is the UN coming here?” “One World Order” “But don’t we have the power to stop them? We still have the coast guard.” “Don’t you see they are already in country? They are members of the Coast Guard and other forces. All they have to do is change uniforms.” “Would not that be treason?” “They are soldiers; they just follow orders without question. It is we vets who have to take the lead.” . All of these things kept racing through Joe’s head. He placed his head in his hands and sighed. Every one was heading for the gulf, leaving us venerable at home. Our home defenses were down because the president thought that most of the war would be fault in the Gulf. Most of NATO including Russia who had their own problems with Islam, held their breath but had silently informed America’s president they would help contain fighting to the area. He reinstated the draft. All forces in the European theater were heading for the gulf. Three hundred thousand were going to Iraq to guard the border with Iran. US war ships fired on Tehran as 700.00 Marines hit the beach. Iran not unprepared inflicted heavy causalities on the invading forces. Over one hundred forty thousand were lost in securing the landing. Syria along with Iranian commandos invaded Israel. Palestine Humas with the aid of Hezbollah invaded from the south. Egypt proclaimed its’ neutrality but did not block Shiites from going to Iran. Iran also sent troops into Iraq to fight the Americans there and into Lebanon to fight the advancing Israeli troops. Fighting worsened out between the Summi and Shiite it was chaos. In Iraq, the Shiites backed by Iran captured Bagdad’s Green Zone and took over the government. Saudi Arabia moved in from the south with two hundred thousand fighting both American and Shiites for control of the southern oil fields. Israel sent troops into Palestine and carried out air strikes into Iran. In the beginning, Egypt tried to stay neutral but fighting broke out in the Streets of Cairo. After declaring Marshall Law there were immediate uprisings all over the country. There were no real alliances. Saudi Arabia and Jordan were the only countries where fighting was not on their own shores. Iran had a standing army of two million. One hundred thousand with the aid of Mexican illegal immigrants stormed the border. Over one hundred thousand were Iranian posted in the last year. While the president was rattling sabers with Iran’s president, he was building up his military. We had no home defense, border guards were easily over come since they only had side arms against advancing Armies. Chases of weapons were stored in country. Western Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California fell quickly. Iran secured the area and gave it to Mexico as part of a treaty agreement. The President of Mexico replaced American police with his own. He Praised Iran for reversing a great injustice. All US forces at home defend the border but it took months for the movement to reach the fighting. Mexico had established its border while Iranian forces spread out through the United States. The president declared Marshall Law and reinstated the draft just as Dave had predicted. Europe had broken out in pure chaos, separate wars all over the place with few alliances. In the Balkans, fighting was between the Serbs who were Christian and Romanians who were Muslim. Similar wars were going on all over Europe. Germany had rounded up all Muslims and put them in camps. Brittan was attempting the same thing but fierce fighting was going on in London. Ireland declared their independence and England because of the fighting at home was unable to stop the new state. FrFrance declared its’ neutrality but rounded up all weapons and made it a capital crime to carry a firearm. Turkey invaded Greece with out NATO to intercede it was a quick victory. With a tough Military reign, they were able to crush internal clashes quickly. . Joe had spent the last two years contacting as many as veterans do as he could, guiding them into the camp, and had managed to get four thousand. Dave’s camp now called “Free America.” covered a thousand acres in the northern California‘s mountains on the edge 500,000 of national forest. They now had forts and boarder patrols. Most of them were veterans and their families how had pledged each other the honor and sacred trust. The time had arrived to disappear. He turned off the GPS device on his cell. He was remembering the things his friend explained earlier. Any cell made after 2003 could not turn off the GPS device. Prepaid cells were the way to go. There first thing to do is get supplies and plenty of ammunition. Joe sat and signed, it seemed impossible. Get prepaid phones, he thought and pre paid ATM cards. He would slowly move his money into these untraceable cards. In the first year, bases were opening again. However, we all knew that these troops were not be deployed but are trained to wear the blue hats. If Dave was right, this conflict will bring us to the brink of WWIII. Then the UN would step in to broker peace. Then they will come for our guns. He went to the bank and emptied his safety deposit box. He put the fifty pounds of gold chains into his briefcase and wondered how much it would buy. Street gangs and renegade cops controlled their own areas. Awaking sleeper cells carried out suicide bombings and planted roadside bombs. The white house was under siege and the president declared marshal law. However, the banks closed as well as the stock exchange. With no money to pay the police, most cities descended in to chaos. Communications were failing all over the country. Mostly the news we got was from vets who had found their way to us. Reports told us that there were five splinters in the gulf fighting each other. It was near impossible to tell who the enemy was. In the North East, most of New England asked Canada for protection and became providences of Canada. Muslins and Christians fought for control of New York, Chicago, DC. The rural north became a lawless void where only gold was used as mediums of exchange. Mercenaries were going to the highest bidder. The South was in much better shape. Different factions controlled much larger pieces of the pie. The Army of God controlled most of the rural south where because of their established large training camps. The rest of the South divided its’ allegiance between the White and Black Christian. Forces led by Harold Cain an ex military man turned Baptist preacher controlled North Carolina, South Carolina, and Northern Florida. The Black Nationalist Party controlled Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Though they mistrusted each other, they worked together for a common cause. Muslims there were crushed or on the run. Each had a bounty of ten ounces of gold. Cuba had invaded Florida and was fighting in Miami with the exiles. Mercenaries were getting rich switching sides for the highest bidder. Patriot groups had established a line between advancing forces and us. The line ran from Huston Texas through the middle of New Mexico then to the High Desert. The evading forces along with established cells had taken Los Angles and all areas south of there. Street gangs fought for control. They did not know and did not care who they were shooting. The evasion had slowed down allowing patriot groups like America Patriots to establish front lines. Several Christian groups claimed the mid west with large armies and better communications. Every one stopped by the Morality police arrested everyone not declaring their faith. They shut down the bars and church attendance was mandatory. Some reports were saying that people were being tortured in the form of the Great Inquisition. White power radicals mostly ruled the Great Northwest. They were killing everybody that came close. Those not wearing WHITE POWER on their head were soon dead. A well-established border was set up between Washington, Oregon, Northern California and Montana, Idaho. Native backed by money from the casinos had hired their own armies. They invited anyone who wanted to live in peace in but did not allow guns. The same thing was true in Nevada where poker chips were worth more than paper money or coins minted by a failing federal government. Then there were groups like us waiting. We were now eight thousand strong. We do not leave our strong hold because we know this is just the precursor of things to come. Next, the UN will step in and broker a peace truce or at least a cease-fire. Then forces everywhere will don the blue hats of the peacekeepers. Then they would come for our guns. Gun registration made it easy. We would wait until they have established a foot holds and before they take power.
PLS help!i'm supposed to write a sumary (paragraph) about something that happened recently! how can i start it -- Iraq's Interior Ministry has revoked the license of Blackwater USA, an American security firm whose contractors are blamed for a Sunday gun battle in Baghdad that left eight civilians dead. The U.S. State Department said it plans to investigate what it calls a "terrible incident." In addition to the fatalities, 14 people were wounded, most of them civilians, an Iraqi official said. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has expressed regret for the weekend killings, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's office said late Monday. Sunday's firefight took place near Nusoor Square, an area that straddles the predominantly Sunni Arab neighborhoods of Mansour and Yarmouk. The ministry said the incident began around midday, when a convoy of sport utility vehicles came under fire from unidentified gunmen in the square. The men in the SUVs, described by witnesses as Westerners, returned fire, the ministry said. A senior industry source said Blackwater guards had escorted a State Department group to a meeting with U.S. Agency for International Development officials in Mansour before the shootings. A car bomb went off about 80 feet (25 meters) from the meeting site and the contractors started evacuating the State Department officials. The contractors returned fire when their convoy was shot at by at least a dozen gunmen at an intersection near the square, the source said. Some of the contractors said the attackers wore pieces of Iraqi police uniforms, he said. One witness told The Associated Press that he heard an explosion before the gunfire began. "We saw a convoy of SUVs passing in the street nearby," Hussein Abdul-Abbas, owner of a mobile phone store in the area, told the AP. "One minute later, we heard the sound of a bomb explosion followed by gunfire that lasted for 20 minutes between gunmen and the convoy people who were foreigners and dressed in civilian clothes. Everybody in the street started to flee immediately." A team from another security company passed through the area a few minutes afterward. "Our people saw a couple of cars destroyed," Carter Andress, CEO of American-Iraqi Solutions Groups, told CNN on Monday. "Dead bodies, wounded people being evacuated. The U.S. military had moved in and secured the area. It was not a good scene." An Interior Ministry spokesman, Brig. Gen. Abdul Kareem Khalaf, said, "We have revoked Blackwater's license to operate in Iraq. As of now they are not allowed to operate anywhere in the Republic of Iraq. The investigation is ongoing, and all those responsible for Sunday's killing will be referred to Iraqi justice." Rice called al-Maliki to offer "her personal and the U.S. administration's regrets" for the shootings. They agreed to conduct "a fair and transparent investigation into this incident" and punish those responsible, the prime minister's office said. The Diplomatic Security Service has launched an official investigation, a review that will be supported by the Multi-National Forces-Iraq, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said. "The secretary wants to make sure we do everything we possibly can to avoid innocent loss of life," he said. McCormack said that while the United States tries to avoid innocent casualties, "we are fighting people who don't play by any rules" and have no problem killing innocent civilians. There has been no official notice from the Iraqi government on revoking Blackwater's license, McCormack said, so he couldn't confirm it and declined to speculate on how it would affect protection of U.S. personnel. A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad confirmed a State Department convoy was in the area. "We are taking it very seriously. We are cooperating with the Iraqi government on several different levels and will continue this cooperation with Iraqi officials," the embassy official said. The weekend's incident raised concerns in the U.S. Congress about the use of private security guards. Rep. Henry Waxman, whose House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held hearings on contractor operations in February, said he will hold new hearings into the issue in light of Sunday's shootings. "The controversy over Blackwater is an unfortunate demonstration of the perils of excessive reliance on private security contractors," said Waxman, D-California. http://www.cnn.com/
Is getting fired for being a reservist legal? Long story short, my husband took a side job at a local store. One friday the military told him he needed to report to his command immediately and that drill weekend for him was starting Friday since there was paperwork and a class. He tried to find someone to fill in at the store but nobody could work so he called the manager and explained the situation. She said that he was "screwing her because she had things to do and to just tell them he had a prior obligation". Obviously he couldn't tell his command that he couldn't make it so he explained this to his manager. The next time he went in for work she told him that he was no longer needed and to bring in his uniforms. Is this legal? I thought there was some veterans act saying that his first obligation is to the government and that if he gets called up his job would have to respect that. We have the paperwork and proof that he was indeed at his command. I didn't want to contact a lawyer if she was within her rights. It's not about going back to work for her it's just the fact that maybe a large company should know that their managers fire people based on their military status.
Can anyone help me with a couple puzzles? 1. At a family reunion, David met four distant cousins who are in the U.S. military. All four wore dress uniforms, two Army and two Navy. When David asked them their names and where they are currently stationed, Terry and Tracy told the truth, while Lee and Loren lied. This was especially confusing because all four names can belong to either a man or a woman. Help David figure out who is who and where each cousin is stationed (including Florida). Here is what each said: Male soldier: 1. The male sailor is Terry 2. Tracy isn't stationed in the Philippines Female soldier: 3. The female sailor isn't Terry 4. Loren isn't stationed in England Male sailor: 5. The male soldier is Lee 6. The female sailor is Loren Female sailor: 7. A sailor is stationed in Hawaii 8. Tracy is stationed in the Philippines 2. Jerri repairs shoes for a local shoe store. Currently, she has four pairs of shoes, each from a different customer, all of which need some work done on them. Can you link up each person with the color and type of shoe that he or she owns and the type of repair that Jerri is doing? Here are your clues: 1. The sandals have worn soles that need replacing 2. Lenore owns the pumps, which are not brown 3. Dwayne owns the maroon shoes 4. Maria's shoes have either a broken heel or a split instep 5. A man owns the loafers 6. The shoes that have a hole in the toe (which are not Ralph's) aren't the pumps 7. The boots are tan 8. The black shoes don't have a split instep

Do I need psychiatric help? Hello, I am sorry I feel a little embarrassed asking this. Im a 27 year old male. I recently was honorably discharged from the military and got a small house with the VA loan. My father moved in with me including his girlfriend. I currently work with my father after I have lost 3 jobs. One of which was a layoff. 2 of them I quit because I felt stressed and couldn't handle physical speed requirements of the job. Now I currently work with my father full time under the table as contractors. There are 3 people here including me and everyone pays their part which is 1/3 of all the bills. When I lost my last job which was a layoff my father put me into the position where I had to work with him. He pretty much doesn't want me to go anywhere else to work and I dont know why (he likes to keep things secret it seems.) My dad cannot drive because of legal reasons. Maybe thats part of it? So I pretty much have to be his transportation back and forth to work including helping him. I want to work in the computer network security field but he doesn't seem to be very supportive of it. He is very upset with me because he says i'm not motivated to do anything. My hair looks a little shaggy and I have not enrolled in college yet. I really want to work on my own, but I feel unmotivated to do so now. My father has a past drug, physical and verbal abuse. I am constantly afraid to ask him for something or almost even talk to him at times because I dont know how he is going to react. I recently filed for unemployment which I am receiving now. As soon as I started getting my unemployment checks my father starts asking me for money to cover his overdrawn checking accounts. I gave the money to him which he claims was for gas money. The next day he asked me to volunteer 250 dollars to build a deck on the back side of the house. I was scared to say no so I gave him the money. I do however want the deck, but he knows I have almost 2000 dollars in bills to pay including 400 dollars for state taxes from the irs. Today we were in wal-mart buying some work pants. I picked out a pair of green dickies to wear. All of a suddent father comes over and says kinda nasty attitude to me "I was hoping you would get the same color pants." I asked him what the big deal was and he said he wanted us to look uniform on the job. I told him that nobody was going to care about him wearing the khaki colored ones and me wearing the green ones. I get a little upset because I thought the situation was a little overreacted on his behalf. I then tell him he put me in this position to work with him. Well he goes off the deep end and doesn't buy any pants at all and storms out the store. We head home and he tells me he will knock me out if I ever said anything like that him again. He also said that he would leave me in my house and watch me to fall on my face. He claims that I am immature and unmotivated and disrepectful to him. It seems to me he is a little controlling and I wish he would just leave me alone. What I want to know is am I in the wrong? Do I possibly have depression from the lack of motivation? He also tells me that I never seem happy about anything when people are talking in conversations. I always feel this heavy feeling in my chest in circle conversations after about 15 minutes or so. The first 10-15 minutes feel okay to me, but then I start feeling anxious and impatient with the conversation to get over. What is wrong with me? Could this be social anxiety? Please, I would appreciate professional answers only. I feel very lost with myself and need some help. Hello, thank you for the responses. I feel a bit relieved. But I do feel I need to talk to someone about this. Fortunately I have VA benefits. I can visit my local VA clinic for this. Ok I have thought separating myself would be a good idea. But how am I going to support myself now? Remember I have a mortgage bill. If we have to separate it will have to be him leaving. And I wont be working with him anymore. I am to the point that I am afraid to ask him to leave. I dont know how he will react to something like that.

Help me with this dream? I had a disturbing dream last night. It was like I was in the miltary, but we didnt have uniforms. We were in some arcade, then it morphed into a vietnam like scene. there were people lying face down with hands behind their heads. then there were chinese people just randomly shooting people. i was kind of just walking around people dying, i vividly remember a guy still alive with his face half blown off. it was wierd. I then put my rifle in the back of pants, met up with my dad and were looking for shirts at a store. freaking wierd. what is wrong with me? I am only 22 and have never been in the military or to vietnam or seen anybody get shot except on tv
What is your opinion on my comedy bits? Fat People - Our country is so incredibly fat. Like in stores when they use the little automatic carts that you sit on and they drive you around i feel sorry for the carts they have to carry around 400 pounds of person while the people get more food to get fatter. You know its sad when people dont even have to burn calories walking to the food they will soon devour. Sometimes i will be with a friend and they will be all like "wow check out that beefcake, it looks like they eat a lot of mcdonalds," and i will be all like "it looks like they eat a lot of people that eat mcdonalds," some of these people seriously look like they havent even looked at a vegtable since 1986 i mean seriously. The Military - I would probably be about the worst soldier on the face of the planet. First of all i hate standing up straight. Second those uniforms look like they would be insanely hot. Another problem with the military lots of men i want some women, and most of the army women look like men anyway so thats not gonna fly. Last thing is the whole possibility of getting killed. If some dude asked me to charge a hill with people that want to kill me on top of it i would look at him and be like "what are you fuckin retarded if you want that hill so bad you go on your own merry way and take it." But hey to each their own. Baseball - I think that baseball has to be about the least evolved sport in existense. I mean it hasn't changed since about year 9. The whole sport is literally people trying to hit a rock with a club. This is what cavemen did when there were no mastadons to hunt. They would be like "oh man today blows no mastadons...wanna go play clubrock," Its also about the most boring sport ever it always takes the throwing dude like a whole minute to throw the ball and the hitting dude only hits the ball about 1 in 7 tries so something worth watching happens about every seven minutes. I mean come on right. Work - Alright i stock shelves at a grocery store right, and its pretty terrible. But everyday i just tell myself at least i dont work at Deri Queen where i would have to serve people like me, who are terrible. And the deri Queen prolly think "man at least i don't work at hardees, at least im not 42 have no front teeth, and smell like curly fries for a living," im trying to find out what the hardees people tell themselves. is it like "wow at least i wasn't a soldior in the holocaust, that would probably be worse than hardees," or like "at least i dont have to clean the seats at a strip club after lap dances, at least fry grease is better than semen." who knows. Dumb People - At the grocery store i work at my most hated part of my job is answering people's increasingly stupid questions. Like this one guy came up to me, and literally asked me "Uh yeah do you guys have bread," and in my head im thinking are you shitting me right now? of course we have bread, have you ever heard of a fuckin breadless grocery store, thats like a prostitute without a vagina it just doesn't happen. We have a whole wall devoted to bread which is about as hard to find as AIDS in africa. But i have to be polite and say "yes we do sir it is in aisle 14 would you like assisstance finding it?" that just put me in a bad mood for about a month.
A job in Fashion???Please Help!!!? Im 12 years old and dont know what i want to do with my life i am very interested in fashion, so I was thinking about working for like 17 magazine or something like that,i am always going gaga over the new fashions, like military jackets and stuff, but i dont have it because i cant afford it.Also kids at school make fun of me for accessorizing my uniforms with liike boho headbands, and oversized vintage rings. It would also be cool to open up a store with the latest fashions that I designed for cheap, is that even possible?? Can you give me some suggestions I could do, because I know that for college you need to know what you wanna do.I used to wanna be an actressm but it looks like that wont happen..I want to be famous, but i dont think thats gonna happen.. Could you help me, would that even be possible to open up a store with my designs, and sell them for cheaper than other places, so that teens and girls could be fashionable? ANOTHER QUESTION:If I were to design clothes, do I need to sew them together, because I have no idea how to sew, but I am always wanting to draw outfits, and i always think "I wish someone would have a store so I could actually afford this"
Navy base life vs. Air Force base life (e.g. community, family life)? Hi, I'm using my girlfriends account and i was really wondering if i can get a *side-by-side comparison of the two. I was raised a Navy brat for 15 years. So I know that one pretty well from that perspective, but i don't know much about USAF life. I thought the navy brat life was great and the community was really tightly-knit. Whenever we would go to air force bases, sure they had nicer stores and whatnot, but rarely did i ever see anyone walking around like i did at my base. My base was very beautiful and diverse, while this certain air force base was pretty uniform and bland. (i live in yokosuka, jpn. and the AF base i'm talking about is Yokota, jpn.) I'm just talking about these two because the other ones, i was too little to remember. other than Travis AFB in CA. Also I'd like to know how day-to-day life is in general for each as an OFFICER. nothing too specific just generalizations are fine. what the general differences are between the two and what they have to do. I'm asking because i'm torn between the two. My plans are to be an officer, for at least 1 service term, in either. I find the military will not only be a great experience and fulfill my life-long dreams, but will be an excellent catalyst to getting me a great job in the civilian world. In the Navy I'd like to go through the NUPOC program and be a SWO or a submariner. In the USAF, I haven't quite pin-pointed it yet, but I was leaning towards things like the space and missile operations side or being an ABM. I went into AFROTC two semesters ago wanting to fly f22s but found flying isn't all that great and so i dropped. I have a girlfriend and we do plan to have our future together and start a family. Also I'm majoring in mechanical engineering. Just throwing that in there for background information. As far as deployments, i know now that with the war in iraq closing and afghanistan(inland!) becoming more prevalent, and with the air force being more expidetionary, the navy and the air force should be about even, depending on the rate/AFSC. 4-6 months? thanks a lot in advance! i made a typo. i do not LIVE in yokosuka anymore. I liveD there. haha sorry about that.
How to file a PIL with High Court AP against a central govt deptt ? PWG , the auditors have failed SATYAM and half a lakh of employees are under constant trouble for the rest of their lives. What i foresee the lives of billion indians are in danger as CDA , Controllers of Defence Accts ( The Auditors of Defence Accts ) are sold out to the TOP echlon of the Min of Defence ( Board Of Canteen Committee , chaired by Mr Defence Min GOI ) . Canteen Stores Deptt is the solely owned central govt deptt directly under Min of Defence to procure , stock and supply at cheaper than the civil market rates grocery as well as Liquors to the troops meaning emn /women in uniform commissioned / non-commissioned through the dependent URCs ( Unit Run Canteens ). Are the central govt civilian employees whether paid out of Defence Estimate or Govt of Indi Guesstimate , can qualify as TROOPS. How come then such central Govt Employees are eligible to avail the canteen facility? On my enquiry under the provision of Right to Info i am informed that a decision was taken by the BOCCA supposedly chaired by then DEFENCE Min to extend CSD ( grocery only , and the AFD by default ) to civilian central govt employees paid out of defence estimates as a kind courtesy for their dedicated work for the DEFENCE in the year 1986 . I have a copy of the minutes of that monumentous occasion provided by the RTI CELL IHQ of MoD ( Army ) New Delhi. And to make it more glorious Army Auth , had in anticipation , published an Army Order in the year 1975 allowing CDA Staff /Est to Run their own URC ( Unit Run Canteen - Applicable only for the military units ) since 1975 , i have a copy of URC CGDA NEW DELHI reply against my RTI QUERY stating their URC registered and operational since 1975. What PWG was to SATYAM ,CDA OFFICES ALLOVER INDIA WITH IT'S HQ as CGDA New Delhi is to Min Of Defence vis-a--vis to Govt of India of , for and by the people of India. Is it not an act of Appeasement of the auditing officials in it's worst form ? Though denied being benefitted moneytarily it is well known that canteen profits generated from APPX 38 CDA STAFF /EST run URCs are huge and not being ploughed back for the welfare of TROOPS. The profits at the end of the financial years are divided in the ratio of salary drawn by those CDA STAFF and paid as dividends. But who will stop this NOBLE practice ? Dear Miss Rachel your lead was helpful. Thanks for the info.Regarding communism you better delink your indoctrinated manuwadi moron mind and free youself from the obsesion ' i know better syndrome' .Good luck kid.
40 reasons for gun control? 1. Banning guns works, which is why New York , DC , & Chicago cops need guns. 2. Washington DC 's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis ' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control. 3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics showing increasing murder rates after gun control are "just statistics." 4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates, which have been declining since 1991. 5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid. 6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals. 7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you. 8. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet. 9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should "put up no defense -- give them what they want, or run" (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete Shields, Guns Don't Die - People Do, 1981, p.125). 10. The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery. 11. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seatbelts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise. 12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917. 13. The National Guard, federally funded, with bases on federal land, using federally-owned weapons, vehicles, buildings and uniforms, punishing trespassers under federal law, is a "state" militia. 14. These phrases: "right of the people peaceably to assemble," "right of the people to be secure in their homes," "enumerations herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people," and "The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people" all refer to individuals, but "the right of the people to keep and bear arm" refers to the state. 15. "The Constitution is strong and will never change." But we should ban and seize all guns thereby violating the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments to that Constitution. 16. Rifles and handguns aren't necessary to national defense! Of course, the army has hundreds of thousands of them. 17. Private citizens shouldn't have handguns, because they aren't "military weapons", but private citizens shouldn't have "assault rifles", because they are military weapons. 18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, finger printing, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940's, 1950's and1960's, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings. 19. The NRA's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign about kids handling guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign is responsible social activity. 20. Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy. 21. A handgun, with up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the typical adult to learn to use, as opposed to an automobile that only has 20. 22. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men but a woman with a gun is "an accident waiting to happen" and gun makers' advertisements aimed at women are "preying on their fears." 23. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers but revert to normal when the weapon is removed. 24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows. 25. A majority of the population supports gun control, just like a majority of the population supported owning slaves. 26. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a "weapon of mass destruction" or an "assault weapon." 27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted. 28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights. 29. Free speech entitles one to own newspapers, transmitters, computers, and typewriters, but self-defense only justifies bare hands. 30. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the Constitution. 31. Charlton Heston, a movie actor as president of the NRA is a cheap lunatic who should be ignored, but Michael Douglas, a movie actor as a representative of Handgun Control, Inc. is an ambassador for peace who is entitled to an audience at the UN arms control summit. 32. Police operate with backup within groups, which is why they need larger capacity pistol magazines than do "civilians" who must face criminals alone and therefore need less ammunition. 33. We should ban "Saturday Night Specials" and other inexpensive guns because it's not fair that poor people have access to guns too. 34. Police officers have some special Jedi-like mastery over hand guns that private citizens can never hope to obtain. 35. Private citizens don't need a gun for self-protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection. 36. Citizens don't need to carry a gun for personal protection but police chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with cops, need a gun. 37. "Assault weapons" have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of people. The police need assault weapons. You do not. 38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential promotion, that's bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that's good. 39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapon. 40. Handgun Control, Inc. says they want to "keep guns out of the wrong hands." Guess what? You have the wrong hands. Healthy P: Maybe it also has to do with the size and legal system of the UK. The UK doesn't restrict its police the way we do. You have a lot less rights over there. If you actually want to make a persuasive argument, see if you can counter any of the points on this list.
reasons to ban guns..... Flawed anti-gun progressive logic....? "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." -Benjamin Franklin, 1759 1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, & Chicago cops need guns. 2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control. 3. In the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings. 19. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows. 25. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a "weapon of mass destruction" or an "assault weapon." 27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted. 28.
